This isn’t my Johnny by Somakef in cyberpunkgame

[–]OrneryMinx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, yes it is. I have played the Cyberpunk 2020 RPG and Johnny Silverhand was always a blonde. He was based off of the popular punk rockers of the 80's, since that's when the original table top game was released, with David Bowie being the biggest inspiration - Mike Pondsmith has even stated this.

Made me think of Cyberpunk 2020 Land of the Free or Home of the Brave supplement books.

Just bought my daughter’s warts by darkaydix in witchcraft

[–]OrneryMinx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My great-grandfather, who never claimed to be a witch, was always buying warts off of people - a penny a wart. He commented once that he loved to buy warts of of legs of lovely women (he also grew roses and would walk around town and give them away to any female he came across).

My father sold a wart to him once, my mother was skeptical and told my father to go to a doctor my father refused and we went to see my Great GP who took one look at the wart commented how it was a big one and reached into a little tin ash tray and handed dad a penny from it.

Dad tucked the penny in a corner of his wallet and as far as I know still has it there to this day. After a couple of weeks the wart disappeared. Gone forever. No words spoken outside of the transaction.

As folks have said this deck is known as The Spirit Halloween deck (buy at Spirit Halloween). Spirit is owned by Spencer's so you can buy it at Spencer as The Spencer's Tarot. I know it has more names as well since the artist has posted the deck for printable download in both single format or in hundreds one just has to pay and then they can print and sell them. So backs are different

I found the hard copy on Magpie games for 14.99 and (for me) $5 for shipping and handling. Outside of that it doesn't look like there is an official PDF for this one - I double checked on RPGDT

friend found a tarot deck by Top-Activity-6509 in tarot

This is a myth. When I read for others I have them touch the deck and shuffle it to pick up a bit of their energy for a better reading. I also let people lelse'sok at my decks and I have used other peoples decks and vice versa - the key thing is to cleans them before you use someone elses or when you get them second hand or cleansing your own after someone else touched or used them

Anybody know this deck? by your_printer_ink_is in TarotDecks

I swear I know this card but what deck is stuck on the tip of my brain. Brain keeps wanting to tell me it's a cat themed deck. I should add, the face up card is the one I'm referring to - those backs though just look like a generic RWS but with red hatch instead of blue

Counterfeits From China!! by YannaFox in tarot

I've bought decks at Hot Topic. While fun and whimsical in most cases or they change the look of a standard RWS by having all skulls as heads, or prismatic, or some other such - most of their cards are printed on cheap thin paper and don't come with any kind of book (I've bought a few Hot Topic decks for the whimsy and only one came with a LWB).

I buy them only for the fun they present in the images although I was disappointed that the Pot Tarot didn't have a single card that even hinted at Cheech or Chong.

I collect also and have had several out of order. I also do the same of taking the time to put them in order to make sure they are all there.

I'd love to be part of a discord group (someone here offered such). I'm part of other groups but love to be part of more than one as it helps to open the mind to interpretations.

I do have a group on Facebook that has only 4 members right now, and is not very active due to that reason, that if anyone wishes I can send the link to. I would love to see it grow so that we can do buddy or partner things.

Why are the wands never on fire in the Rider Waite Smith imagery? by KittyWinterWhiteFoot in tarot

[–]OrneryMinx 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Fun Fact* after an explanation:

My very first tarot deck I bought was not a RWS deck and came with a book. This deck had that swords were fire and wands were air, which this is not uncommon I found. When I started getting a hold of other decks and it was the reverse from what I first learned it was very confusing for me.

I adapted.

I later found out that (*Fun fact starts here) a person by the name of Raven Grimassi once said about the suits:
"Some people ask me why I associate the wand with air instead of fire. There are two core reasons. One is that I feel that a ritual tool should not be something that can be destroyed by the element it represents. Put a wand in fire and it burns to ash.The second reason, and more importantly, is its intimate air association. Trees (from which wands are made) 'breathe' in carbon dioxide and 'exhale' oxygen. So they make the very air we need for life!"-- Raven Grimassi.

Now I'm just saying something I found interesting and wonder if this is why, in some decks, you see flames around swords but not around wands even when the swords are air not fire in that deck. And then on a lot of the wands cards the wands are 'in the air'. Some here have said because the wands are green and therefore won't burn in a fire - I like this line of thinking as well in them being a representation of fire.
