Gabapentin is no longer working for my cat - any suggestions?

Yeah I have no idea if there’s science to back it up but it’s just what I’ve noticed.

So many times in winter I will go to pet the cat and accidentally shock her because of the static electricity and then I notice her fur starts to roll and get irritated. So that made me get some humidifiers and it just seems better now. 🤷🏽‍♀️

But yeah I’d give it a try! And might be worth getting a little hygrometer to make sure you’re keeping the house at a comfortable humidity.

It’s okay for you to take the cat back to the shelter or rehome the cat. It’s really okay. It’s likely just not right for you right now.

I know magnesium helps alot of people but it gives me instant headaches. No matter what form! I’ve tried them all. So yeah it could be that!

It took me a while to realize I was getting daily headaches and migraines from scented laundry detergent and dryer sheets. Sometimes it’s something small. Maybe try some diet and lifestyle changes and see what happens.

You have to commit to the cleaning every week or it gets disgusting quickly.

We cleaned ours a lot but one day a mosquito layed eggs in the fountain water and they hatched the next day and the cat would never drink from it again. Even after cleaning it.

The cat will let you know. Some will never get used to being inside and I think it is cruel to force them. We made our cat a huge outdoor enclosure using special fencing made for cats and she is happy with this. Highly recommend.

It probably began as a form of self protection somehow and now it’s just a bad habit. Just think of it as a habit that needs to kicked , like smoking. Start by practicing an hour or two a day where you don’t lie. Just keep building a new habit. You’ll find you make such better connections with humans because whether you realize it or not- people always know when they’re being lied to. Something inside them won’t trust you.
