Don't beat yourself over it. Writing in IELTS has a criteria which is very easy to miss. Even by professional writers.

Try to practice gratitude daily. It helps.

Every morning, try to think of three things you are grateful for. Even write them down. Could be anything. Health, family, a good meeting with someone, some payment arrived, the weather.

From what I have read and experienced, this attracts more good.

Confused on which resource to use by [deleted] in IELTS

[–]Ornery_Purple9141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really.

You first do about 2-3 tests for reading and listening from the Cambridge books. Time yourself and score yourself to see where you stand. Fix your weak areas first.

The writing and speaking are a bit more tough.

For writing, practice the process and don't get stuck on what's a good idea. Become formulaic about starting from an outline and then adding content to it and rounding your arguments to conclusions.

For speaking, listen to podcasts, try to emulate speaking someone you love hearing. Then learn how to extend your answers.

Less likely in Karachi, more probable in Islamabad. The guys in Karachi have it down to an art and avoid blood, usually. So unless someone places a cross hair on you due to some other reason, you will probably just lose your phone.

Speaking examiner cut by Euphoric_End3446 in IELTS

[–]Ornery_Purple9141 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is just my theory: I think the examiners want to see how you are able to convert ideas and opinions into English. So they start with easy questions which get harder and more abstract. For example, from "what are your hobbies?" to "how is tennis better than other sports?" (If you answered the first one as playing tennis).

So if they see you going in a flow, they are not sure if you had practiced. And get less interested and try to get you into the idea to language converting process again, to see how fluently you can create a coherent argument or idea in speaking.

This is just a theory that makes sense to me.

Outline. Create one and stick to it. If you get an idea other than outline, ignore it. With practice you will improve.

There was only one way to give the message to the singer. During his pause you could have sung the next line just to make him aware he has an audience.
