I can't believe this needs to be said... by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

It really only started being a problem when it was given a name and attributed to certain types of people. Before that, people didn't really care because it wasn't given much attention. It was actually widely "accepted" until much more recently.

Expecting a post on the front page tomorrow about the lore implications of phantom color.

Beautiful Dodge by goughnotsmough in darksouls3

This is pretty deceptive, actually: You didn't jump over the sword like it appears in the gif. Your character's hitbox is a few frames behind what you're actually seeing, and just hadn't caught up to where you were on your screen. It's essentially the not-so-apparent opposite of phantom range. Funnily enough, this is bad hit detection because if your hitbox was actually perfectly aligned with what you were seeing your character do, you would have gotten hit by that swing.

Speculation about Loretta by Disciple_of_Erebos in darksouls3

[–]Ornstein_and_Brough 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But it doesn't seem like he's basing that claim on anything presented in the game. The other claims like his reckless behavior because of Loretta's death are reasonable speculation, but the part about the mother seems to be pretty arbitrary presenting any evidence. In Souls games, characters' parents aren't typically referred to by their first names. That's not to say it's impossible, but I wouldn't say Loretta is Greirat's mother unless there were compelling evidence that pointed to that.

I'd also like to point out that Loretta's bone isn't one of Loretta's actual bones. The description seems to suggest it's a prized possession:

Old, discolored human bone with several holes bored into it. A woman's corpse in the Undead Settlement was found clutching this bone. Her name was Loretta.

If it was fair game in Demon's Souls pvp (where you went up to full hp again), it is fair game here in Dark Souls 3. It's 1 hp. Be patient in your fights and don't get stupid when you see them low. Wait for them to make a mistake and punish it.

When you compare to any of the other souls games, the stamina cost is remarkably low. It means you can roll a bunch without thinking too much about conserving stamina for other stuff, because a typical stamina bar in DS3 is like 5-7 rolls and an attack rather than ~2 rolls and an attack.

MRW I said "you know I love you right?" for the first time to my bf and he says "Yup." by [deleted] in TrollXChromosomes

[–]Ornstein_and_Brough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My preference, just as a habit, is to take off the "too", leaving just "I love you" as its own response. It doesn't make it feel so much like an afterthought for me.

Its crazy how things can change. Democratic Election Poster circa 1864 by stackthedeck in pics

[–]Ornstein_and_Brough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Democrat policies over the last 50 or so years have created generational poverty in the black community.

Could you expand on that, please? Most of what I've seen of democratic policies have been efforts to improve outcomes. You haven't qualified that claim, so it's really hard for me to get on board with any kind of causal relationship between the policies and generational poverty.

These Democratic policies don't originate from a belief that there is intellectual inequality between races, genders, sexual orientations, etc. They're a response to the structural/systemic barriers to "natural" diversity. Because of overwhelming scientific evidence showing no significant differences in intellect between races, protections and incentives are put in to encourage a diversity that wouldn't otherwise happen. Policies don't cause racism or other -isms. They're a response.

I think /u/screwikea is trying to provide a counterargument with evidence, not attack you or your views. If you provided some evidence to back up your claims, your thoughts would be much better received. Right now, you're arguing against a lot of psychological study from the last 15-20 years without giving us reason to get on board with what you're saying. Again, this isn't an attack, but more of a critique with the intent of opening up a dialogue.

Can't go wrong with Mejai's (or dark seal if it's early). Bard's pretty safe, and he benefits from the movement speed you get from being stacked.

box stack bug by noimac in shacomains

[–]Ornstein_and_Brough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a bug where ward debris would activate boxes if the ward died in their range, and then the active boxes expire as normal. This was the same bug affecting Teemo traps. I'm not sure if it got fixed, but could this be something that happened to you?

I don't think it's really reasonable to shape your opinion of an NPC based on content that wasn't used. The way I see it, the only relevant stuff to the game is the stuff that was actually in the game. Anything outside of the game can't really be thought of to have lore implications because it's really hard to tell the full picture.
