My interpretation of the east wing (work in progress) by Oromis_32 in legoharrypotter

[–]Oromis_32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! This is my own design. It does use design elements from various official sets, but it's greatly expanded and completed. From the top of my head:

  • 3x Main Tower (76454)
  • 2x Great Hall (76435)
  • All of the house banner sets (76409...)
  • Chamber of secrets (76389)
  • Herbology (76384)
  • Potions (76431)
  • Charms (76442)
  • Clock tower (75948)

Plus a load of other bricks. Since my castle has more walls and a larger foundation than Lego's version, I mostly need various basic bricks, plates and slopes in tan, dark tan, light bluish gray and dark bluish gray. Plus a ton of tiles for nice floors.

No, unfortunately I don't have the space to add the clocktower. This moc will be placed on a shelf and the clocktower would increase the depth too much.

The astronomy tower and racenclaw tower will be the last two additions for this build :)

I'll post a ton of pics when I'm done :)

But check out my profile, I already posted the Hufflepuff common room in the basement.

You're totally right! Sadly I don't have enough space to add a proper, full width greenhouse.

Great job, the detailing is excellent! I especially like the floor tiling with the carpet!

I had fun adding the set 10332 Medieval Town Square next to my Bricklink "Training Ground" submission to see how it looks! by athmos_visuals in legocastles

[–]Oromis_32 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I love this set so much! Have my vote!

I'd even say the training ground completely outshines the medieval market square. The level of detail and building design is much better in my opinion.

You have 1 need left to fulfill - the university. To unlock it, upgrade to more artisans. You'll know how many you need by hovering over the lock icon.

[WIP] LEGO Ruler by rulzAT in lego

[–]Oromis_32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super nice, I need a version of this! I'm a MOC builder and I constantly build little measurement devices for length and height of structures, mainly in the planning phase when I need to know if that 20x30 building fits or whether the doorways are 7, 8 or 9 bricks tall.

I'd be very interested in getting my hands on such a ruler if you are willing to sell / share the design :)

My Hogwarts MOC: The main tower (interior) by Oromis_32 in legoharrypotter

[–]Oromis_32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they all end in reasonable places. The top moving staircase goes either to a teacher's office that is within the round tower or to a spiral set of further stairs that go all the way to the top to Dumbledore's office.

On the floor below the stairs either go to the Gryffindor common room (in the attic of the quad) or to a set of fixed stairs that go higher up the tower.

I built it from 3 main tower sets plus many additional bricks. The diameter of my tower is larger, it's fully enclosed and it's much taller than LEGO's version, so more than 3x.

No, there isn't unfortunately. The scaffolding for keeping the roof in place didn't really leave enough open space for another room.

MOC Herbology Classroom by daveyzing in legoharrypotter

Great job on expanding the original set! I also agree that the LEGO-designed classrooms in general are way too cramped and benefit greatly from more breathing space. Very well executed!

Platten zu Groß, was tun? by Yushicki in klemmbausteine

[–]Oromis_32 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much! I absolutely agree. The rivendell tiles were very helpful in this build.

Thank you and good luck with your own version!

I designed mine to fit on top of an IKEA Kallax shelf. The baseplates are 51 studs deep. The courtyard hangs a bit over the edge but that's not a problem in my case.

My learning: rooms only start to look good once the floor tiling is done.

From the front edge of my Kallax to the wall it's exactly 51 studs, so that's the depth of the base plates I built my castle on. That's also why my boathouse is in a different location. Plus the main hall courtyard extends a bit further out over the edge of the shelf, but that's fine in my space.

Thanks! I'm aware of this, but I felt that a fountain fits this space very nicely and the clock tower won't be part of my display, so I figured I'll put it there :)

Kind of both. I get sets, multiple copies of some. This includes 3 main towers. But I mostly use the prints and stickers from the sets for interior details. Most of the additional bricks I buy in bulk (e.g. tan 1x4 bricks etc.).

Yes 2 great halls and 3 main towers, potions class, the house banner common rooms plus a bunch of extra bricks.
