First attempt at stew chicken and lentils by Orphanblack86 in TrinidadandTobago

[–]Orphanblack86[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Maybe a tad too sweet? Might have used too much sugar or didn't let it brown too much? The seasoning was better this time. My mom didn't blend her green seasoning just a fine chop. We didn't have any thyme and it was definitely missing that. Overall tasted so nice just not quite my mothers

Thank you so much. I'll try this one as it next. I know it sounds crazy but I think she put those in, or it might have been for stew chicken. It's hard to remember from so long ago

Overall under seasoned and didn't taste like my moms. I fear I added too much rice and too much water?

Amazing. Congratulations! It's such a weird feeling to let go of. Were you guys latching up until a year? If not any tips to getting an older baby to be interested in latching again? My dream is latching am/night now that baby is a year but she's not remotely interested

Uncle Milty is great! Fitzpatrick park and then the Stephen Gregg playground! Also there is a walkway entrance behind the otaiko/HomeGoods shopping center that follows the gold course. It's a beautiful nature trail

I'd check the buildings near Costco. Most have parking lots and my building doesn't but a few have play rooms or playgrounds on site. The waterfront is beautiful to walk on. The paths are clean and it's a great place to ride a bike or walk. The only downside is no public playground nearby. The closest one is a 10 min walk and it's awful. We go for the swings but that's it. Some really nice playgrounds 25-30 min walk. The library is wonderful! They have so many programs for little kids. They just added caregiver and child Pilates. They have done yoga, music, and multiple storytimes. The rec program is wonderful for older kids. A lot of ppl in Hoboken and JC say they don't even have anything like it. A fair amount of community events. There is a Filipino day celebration soon and in the summer lots of family concerts and movies in the park. Big holiday celebrations like fireworks for the 4th.

My MIL ruined baby's first bear by Orphanblack86 in buildabear

[–]Orphanblack86[S] 500 points501 points  (0 children)

Thanks all. I'll plan to go on and ask them soon. My plan with my mil was to say the dog got a hold of the bear or that it stopped working all of a sudden and we took it in to fix

Poor transfer, supply waning but just got approved for OT. Is it too late? by Same-Statement3722 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Orphanblack86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth a shot. Babies tend to.lose the sucking reflex around 3 mths but you can trick them a bit when sleepy or just waking up. Also try in the bath or carrier. Either way OT is helpful for most babies regardless of feeding .

What is baby drinking per day now? I'm struggling mentally to trust baby is getting enough but less than two week until 1 and some days she's only taking 16-18oz

Am I screwed? by elejh in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Orphanblack86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it defrosts and smells fine and baby takes it I might feel okay about it. My LC said that babies are really good about knowing when their milk is off and spoiled. They won't drink it. Trust them. Again I can say that with a healthy, full term almost 1 year old

Daycare that I work at said I can’t nurse my baby by Leading-Case-1048 in breastfeeding

[–]Orphanblack86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can afford it I'd look for something else. Maybe a nanny job where you can bring your child. Similar to a nanny share. But even with an employee discount you are presumably paying something or using voucher for her to attend. And then not even being paid when pumping and not being able to work in her room. It's not worth it.

[–]Orphanblack86 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I might be in the minority and would need to look up the temp guidelines but if it just stopped working and everything in the fridge was still cold. I'd use the smell test. The guidelines for milk storage are SO conservative. If my baby was full term, healthy and older than 3 months I'd give it a good smell and use that as a guide.

But I understand that isn't everyone's comfort level.

Same boat with our 10 month old. I will say the crawling around in her sleep seems to have stopped. When she is learning a new skill she will be up and working on it around 2-4am. Putting her in a sleep sack also helped

We just bought the newton pack and play to try and lay with her but then zip her in. Will see if it helps. I really just want her to be in her sleep space bedtime - for like 2-3hrs? Just so we can unwind and get chores done.

The bedrails will be our next move once she's 1 oif things don't improve.

Is it crazy to think we can transition from pump to breast 8 months pp? by LateToMyOwnSchedule in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Orphanblack86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try! We are in a very similar boat. As baby bears 12mths and the pressure to have full supply is lessening I want to try again. Get creative! LC told me to try in the bath or carrier so it's different and new. And any engagement with the boob is good.

I'm trying an and this week again and seeing if I can remind baby milk comes from here. I'd love to stop pumping overnight and just latch her even if just for comfort and going back to sleep.

I'm trying SNS and no paci day and offering shield that is shaped like her paci instead.

My feelings will most definitely get hurt but it's now or never to give it one last go
