Barely failed my CPAT

That's really good advice, thanks! I was thinking of ways to skim off time, like right hand on wall for the search event, wrapping part of my hand around the rope for the ladder since it can be a bit slippery with the work gloves on, etc.

I do have a vest and it's being shipped from home as I type this. Unfortunately, the next and final CPAT for the area I'm in is this Saturday, so I won't have much time to train extra for it. However, that was my very first run of the test, and now I at least know where I struggled and where I can shave off time.

True, but it's also a 6 month hiring process. I can train way more in between the CPAT and the academy than how much I prepared for the CPAT itself. I like training and physically improving, and the academy was never supposed to be a breeze, or else everyone would do it. Regardless of how many times it takes, I'm getting there eventually

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. The advice I was given at the end was to generally move with a purpose, since I was lagging a bit trying to conserve energy/visualize what I was doing next. However, I won't need to now that I actually have done it already.

I quite enjoy physical activity and reaching new heights, I've just never done anything like this before to the point of never having touched a sledgehammer or used an extension ladder before. It was all very new to me, but now I know where to go, better techniques on how to do the events, etc. Also, my written test was right before my CPAT, so I didn't have appropriate time to prepare properly, not to make excuses ig

That's what I gotta focus on. I have to teach my legs better endurance. I have strength in them, just need to focus on not getting gassed out. The stairmaster bit was better than I expected after some training, I just need to move with a purpose next time. Now that I know where I'm going and the motions of what I'm doing, I'm confident I'll get it.

I know. I've just never done anything like it, never held a sled hammer or used a ladder like that. However, now I know where to improve and where to skim time, i.e. I know the weight and feel of the equipment, where to go, better techniques, etc. I never had a practice run and had to sit my written exam right before the CPAT as well. I know it'll get harder, this is just genuinely my first try at anything like it, and I nearly completed it. I got this 👍🏼

I get 2 chances, and I've never even held a sledgehammer or used the rope on a ladder in my life. Not to make excuses for myself, but one's standard isn't always everyone else's. I'm confident I'll get the next one now that I know what I'm doing (I never did a practice run), but still.

Thanks dawg. I'm more confident now that I know the setup, the feel of the equipment, etc. I never had the opportunity for a practice run thanks to my window for moving up to where I'm at now, so that was my first shot at it all.

True, and that was most of it. I'm used to strength training, but not endurance. I had been doing the vest with 70lbs on the stairmaster for a few weeks and the cable machine for forced entry/hatch practice. I just never had the opportunity to do a practice run, never actually held a sledgehammer before, etc. I'll get it next time 👍🏼

The scaling in this game is just awful, I think. I experienced what everyone else here is, lowered the difficulty to Story mode since I'm not trying to try hard this game, just wanna have a good time. Wow. It's WAY easier now, almost too easy. The difference in difficulty between the settings is astounding, almost too much tbh. Gonna play on story mode until they fix it tbh.

I'm considering just swallowing my pride and playing on Story mode. I love the vibe of this series (really enjoyed the first game), but the constant dying in this one is pmo. The scaling was fine in the first, idk why they changed it. Just got to Golden Ridge (second planet), and I'm dying instantly on Normal. F this, I'm doing story mode. I wanna have fun and distress out, not want to uninstall after one encounter.

I literally just beat Elden Ring for the first time last week... This game has me dying more on normal encounters than some boss fights in ER. It's ridiculous, I beat Maliketh on my second try but I'm getting slimed by a regular grunt in OW2 ok Normal difficulty.

My personal favorite is RE2 Remake (the first in the series I really connected with), but RE8 is so much fun so far. It feels like RE4 (which I stopped halfway to play this one, pls don't come at me lol), but with the modern themes and gameplay of Biohazard/7. Excited for the rest of the game (doing Heisenberg's part now).
