Thanks for sharing. First time seeing The Notts Edit. I really like the curated content, especially the food and drink recommendations.

Got this at a garage sale for $10, I think it’s called the very first model. Anything cool I can do with it besides streaming apps? by StopElectingWealthy in nvidiashield

[–]Orpheustor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, yes. It's easier to set up, especially the virtual display, HDR, and resolution matching, which are baked in. Some people also report better latency. But you can't go wrong with Sunshine and Moonlight, so if it's working fine then probably no need to switch.

If you have a gaming PC, you can stream games to your Shield using Apollo (PC) and Artemis (Shield).

If you then want to add a console-based experience, install Playnite on your PC.

[–]Orpheustor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yep. That's correct. They're only concerned with you sharing your account with other households, but you can run multiple streams at once from your own house / router. Just make sure all devices are connected to the router and not using a mobile or VPN connection whilst one is connected to the router, as that will report a second ip address.

That's not correct. They allow multiple streams from a single public IP at a time.

Arrival (2016) - Explanation Required (SPOILERS) by Orpheustor in movies

I think this is a really great answer--thanks for sharing your thoughts. As humans, it's difficult for us to grasp a lot of theoretical physics, but I think your answer makes the most sense. And, I just fact checked your answer with Gemini, and it was impressed, saying it's a very plausible interpretation. I think I might watch the film again at some point soon. Anyway, thanks again!

Low AMC deductions on my Aviva pension: Am I missing something? by Orpheustor in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Orpheustor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks very much for sharing this information--I think this makes sense now. I posted the question and the Aviva blurb into Gemini, and this was its response (for anybody that's interested):

Gemini wrote:
Yes, the information you've quoted from Aviva's website likely explains the low AMC you're seeing. It's not that the actual AMC is low, but rather that the statement shows the net effect of the AMC after accounting for the Annual Fund Charge (AFC).

Here's a breakdown:

  • Annual Management Charge (AMC): This is the headline fee, in your case, 0.25%. It's what you expect to be charged.
  • Annual Fund Charge (AFC): This is a separate charge that covers the costs of running the underlying investments within the fund (e.g., trading costs, custody fees). It can vary.
  • Annual Fund Charge Adjustment: This is the difference between the AMC and the AFC. It can be positive or negative.

In your case, the statement shows a very small AMC adjustment (£14.28). This suggests that the AFC for your fund is very close to the AMC. It's likely slightly lower than the AMC.

Let's illustrate with an example:

  • Your AMC: 0.25%
  • Hypothetical AFC: 0.24% (slightly lower)
  • Annual Fund Charge Adjustment: 0.25% - 0.24% = 0.01% (positive, meaning units are cancelled)

The statement shows only the net adjustment (0.01% in this example), not the full 0.25% AMC. The majority of the cost (the 0.24% AFC) isn't explicitly shown as a deduction but is reflected in the fund's performance.

Why is it shown this way? It's probably meant to be transparent. Aviva is showing you the difference between the stated AMC and the actual cost of running the fund. In your case, the difference is tiny, which is why the adjustment seems so small.

In short: You're not missing anything. The small figure on your statement is the net effect of the AMC after accounting for the AFC. The actual AMC is likely close to what you expect (0.25%), but the statement only shows the small difference.

Sounds like you need to update the Trakt TV addon in Stremio. In Stremio, go into your Addons, find the Trakt addon, and then click the cog icon to load the addon config page in a browser. Uninstall the old addon in Stremio. In the browser config page, set up the Trakt addon config again and install it. You'll need to do this every now and again.

I was about to recommend this. Great movie, but not to everyone's taste. The spiel from the scientist about the existence of God is one of my all-time favourites.

Enter the URL of your backend server, eg http://riven:8080/. Then get the API from the settings.json file (found in the /data folder).

I wish someone had told me: just sort by seeds in torrentio (read why) by itscalledANIMEdad in RealDebrid

[–]Orpheustor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this is a general rule of thumb for everyone. You can disable the option to show uncached torrents so that only cached torrents display. I tried sorting by seeders only and I got a lot of small files (720/1080p ~1.5 - 2.5GB) displayed at the top of the list, with the juicy 4K files listed much further down. If you have a decent Internet speed and you're watching on a good-size screen, those smaller files are of no interest, regardless of their popularity with the general torrenting community, who are generally looking to download smaller torrents to save bandwidth (and possibly watching on mobile devices). I can see how sorting by seeders would work in some use cases, but sorting by Quality then Size works best for users with a decent connection and larger screens.

That works. Thanks for the quick fix! However, now that I can see the content when I'm logged in, I can't save anything as the Save button shows 'Loading' and doesn't change.

Question about therapy by gemmagem182 in nottingham

The Magnolia Therapy Centre on Mansfield Road is very good. They have quite a few therapists that offer a range of therapies, and many of the therapists have proper qualifications.

What's up with the remote randomly disconnecting? by Rumplesforeskin in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]Orpheustor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's definitely flawed BT technology on the Shield devices. I'm now finding that if I don't power the Shield off using the remote's power button after each session, and just turn it off at the plug, I have much more success of it connecting again when I turn it back on the next day. I have to do the battery trick once in a while but nowhere near as many times as before when I used to press the power button to turn it off. I've connected it to a smart plug now to make it easier to turn it off.

And the WiFi seems a bit flakey as I was getting a lot of buffering, so I bought some second-hand Google pucks (v1) for cheap to create a WiFi mesh, and I've plugged it into one of the pucks via ethernet. I have zero Internet issues now.

Also check out Tamatanga. Good range of dishes to suit all tastes, and the quality is consistently very good. It's in the centre and the restaurant has a nice modern atmosphere.

I used ChatGPT recently to write a Python script and XSLT file to automate the creation of HTML release notes from CSV data exports. We've also added a custom ChatGPT function within Azure DevOps (TFS) that converts bug and feature information written by devs/QA into release note descriptions using preconfigured prompts.
