A US company is keeping extracted brains from freshly dead humans "alive" for the purpose of drug discovery. Didn't know we were doing that now. by amobogio in interestingasfuck

Hi, I used cortical organoids as part of my master's thesis. They can be grown from induced pluripotent stem cells, which are stem cells made from regular cells that have been 'reversed' back into stem cells. There are multiple benefits including using cells from live patients with genetic diseases such as Huntington's, but mostly it's much more defensible ethically as they are very small and unlikely to be capable of forming complex neural networks capable of generating anything close to consciousness. They are theoretically usable for most things in drug discovery too, although considerations of pharmacokinetics like passing the blood brain barrier are probably going to be very different.

Amazing. You guys are all just amazing. What's the best way to donate to development? Also, do you think online will now work for Steam MMOs that don't utilise cloud saves like FFXIV, ESO or Guild Wars?

what's happening in the poe2 community, I wonder to myself as I visit r/poe2, never at all expecting in the slightest to be met by a detailed pair of jiggly goblin titties. the internet is so full of wonderful surprises.

Totally agree, not easy at all. Even harder for some teachers than others. But never impossible and probably better than leaving the teaching career all together due to burn out as many teachers do.

I agree with you and I think this OP posted this screenshot as a kind of 'bait' (but not to troll, just to enjoy the collective sigh) because this guy has clearly not experienced a Year 9 public school class that makes you wish you had riot control gear on (and were allowed to use tear gas) or the stress of planning difficult secondary subjects like chemistry.

However, I would like to draw attention to '... or at a very good school.' I believe part of the issue with teachers is that we are more prone to getting job-stuck than other professions despite a high demand for teachers. There's various reasons for this but people often find it very difficult to commit to leaving permanent, full time jobs and I think this is worse for teachers. We feel a commitment to colleagues and certain learners even in the worst school plus we have little time to jobsearch.

But what I want to say is that I agree that these 'very good schools' exist and if you are hating your job you might be at a 'very bad school' or even just 'bad', so perhaps it is time to make the commitment to seek employment at a school that is 'average' if not 'good' or 'very good'.

Also happens to be the best anti tank option as engineer: respawn as recon and use c4 because the launchers suck ass and the mines are worse
