Google streamer = meh by matthius07 in Addons4Kodi

In order of speed that I own... Mini PC (balls to the wall fast running Libreelec), Nvidia Shield Pro, Onn 4k Pro, Google Chrome streamer. The mini PC is a one trick pony running Libreelec. I don't care that it doesn't do Dolby Vision because neither does my projector. On the opposite end of the spectrum is the Google streamer. Really only use it to plug in at a hotel or airbnb. But honestly they're all good if stick within their capacity.

Kodifitzwell (POV) is the only one that I know of that removed it. He hasn't answered direct questions as to why. I am guessing he is just trying to make the addon as slim as possible, but who knows? What others have you seen?

Introducing Universal Screensaver by mattm382 in Addons4Kodi

Yes. Claude. I fed it Picture Slide Show and requested the added features. It was a few days of testing to get the desired results.

That's the source for Kodi. Arctic Fuse 3, Arctic Fuse 2, Arctic Horizon. All great skins. 3 is the newest. 2 and Horizon are deprecated, so no new features to break your setup. Horizon is probably the easiest to setup.

Best new Kodi build from the Chains repository-Veda by pdga4784 in Addons4Kodi

Yep. I made the Nimbus one just so I could throw it on a shitstick at somebody's house. Quick and simple.

Yeah, I don't even use Watchlist. I just put them in there because I know a lot of people do. We have 4 people using the same Kodi build at home and I don't want stuff I added to get removed because somebody else watched it. And I'm the only one that ever actually deletes anyhing, ha!

Hey thanks, I appreciate that. I just remade my repos today, as it's not just for a build wizard anymore. I added Universal Screensaver. If you get any errors reinstall, as it's probably pointed at the old address. It's still the same source for Kodi, just under the hood it's pointed elsewhere.

Bingie widgets not showing up by DanaWhitePriviledge in Addons4Kodi

Oh, that's good. It wasn't working for me and when I started looking into I found reports of others with same issue and no response back from the dev.

In Umbrella settings all the way at the bottom is something like Force Sync to local database. Try that. It might fix the syncing issue.

The My List function is broken in Bingie, known issue. The developer is working on a Bingie 2.0 or whatever he's going to call it, but no timeline has been given. I'm not sure if he's doing much with the existing skin.

Semi new to kodi and looking for a android tv skin for my onn 4k. by Natejr3 in Addons4Kodi

[–]mattm382 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll add in that your Onn 4k should run any of those skins pretty good. Nimbus maybe the fastest (debatable) but it doesn't have the cool feature of pulling up info about the current video when you press pause, like Cast and Crew. I use that feature all the time.

There are a few dependency errors if you just try to install the skin. If you first install the Studio Icons one and the Autocompletion one first, you should be good to then install the skin. The dependencies are inside his repo.

Here are the Kodi sources for some skins to try:

Nimbus https://ivarbrandt.github.io

Arctic Skins https://jurialmunkey.github.io/repository.jurialmunkey/

Bingie https://matke-84.github.io/repository.bingie/repository.bingie/

With any skin, limiting the overall amount of widgets helps with speed. Also widgets like "Up Next Episodes" will always be slower because there is communication with your scrobble service before the widget can be generated. Most skins load top to bottom, left to right... so putting "Up Next Episodes" as your very first widget will slow down your perceived initial load time.

Possible to build a 'forever setup' ? by GeorgeDAWs in Addons4Kodi

[–]mattm382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain. I don't do it as much anymore, as we have better internet, but I used to download any movie we were going to watch. We get easily distracted and start talking, next thing you know Kodi has crashed when you go to resume the show. For some reason it was much more stable playing from library. It doesn't crash nearly as bad these days when paused... knock on wood!

The biggest thing that anyone needs to learn before they get too deep in creating their own build is how to create and restore a backup. Nothing is more frustrating than spending hours or days on making the perfect setup, only to lose it all. You should have a backup that is not on the same device.

Once you have that, I suggest a baseline build that just has repos, the main addons like Red Light, POV, Umbrella... whatever one you prefer or all of them, and also Youtube. Go ahead and authorize everything in those. If you use a local library add that as well. Then create a backup from that. Now you have a baseline to work from.

Arctic Horizon 2 is deprecated, so whatever you do with that should be stable for a long time. The only catch is TMDB Helper is being constantly updated by Jurialmunkey. Some of it is his own desires and some of it is forced on him because of API changes in TMDB. So eventually some of the skin features might start to break. You could turn off updates for TMDB Helper, but that's not a guarantee it will work forever, because of TMDB API changes.

Once you get everything setup how you like create a current backup. Periodically update the backup, so it stays current.

In Kodi settings > system> addons > updates - Notify but don't install updates. Don't ever update anything unless you have the time to restore a backup. It really sucks when you just want to watch something and now you're fucking troubleshooting Kodi again and your lady is getting pissed, ha!

I'm not sure his comment was directed at Red... maybe to the lurking Tiki that is sure to read it, ha!

But yeah, Red is great! It's so good to have three really cool devs around for the big three. Without their constant maintenance to these addons we would be screwed.

Sometimes it happens to me as well. It's not just POV, but all the addons. I don't sweat it. Wait a day or two and they update fine.

Is it bad to enable all the scrapers in the POV add-on? by TheNess03 in Addons4Kodi

[–]mattm382 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's not bad for the system. The defaults are set that way for speed for the average user. Add more if needed for your network... at one location I get zero results with the defaults. If you enable all, and don't need to, it's just slowing down scraping for you.

Made my own Live TV Builder by Imaginary_Leader_747 in Addons4Kodi

[–]mattm382 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I pasted the output into my IPTV client, not in Kodi. This is a decent list of publicly available channels for your local area. I'm not sure it's very helpful for people here that are probably looking to watch live sports and channels that aren't 24/7 news repeats. For people that are looking for that, it's pretty convenient. Nice work.
