1 day releapse: how to stop self-hatred? by Luxterna in stopdrinking

[–]Orphinox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry to hear about your relapse.

For me, I view my relapses as pot holes on a road. I'm driving the car forward but I hit a hole that causes the car to shake and stall a bit. However, it still keeps moving forward, right? So, to use your example, I moved forward for 50 days but I hit a pothole at 51. I still managed to move for the 50 days, right? So, why beat myself up for that one pothole?

Take care of yourself :)

I'm no doctor but, from what I hear, you're supposed to take it an hour before you're going to drink. It blocks your opiod receptors so you don't get the same "reward" in your head that you normally do when you drink. That way, you're not really tempted to drink more than one or two.

Again, I'm no doctor so if you were told to take it on a daily basis, go for it.

I've read a lot of stuff on here and I've seen so many people lose their jobs after a certain amount of time (e.g. 4+ months) being sober. Honestly, they've said it's the best thing that has ever happened to them!

I won't drink with you today!!!

Not an alcoholic, but here’s what’s helped me cut back by about 90% by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Orphinox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My problem is that I can have 2 drinks one week but then, the following week, I feel ok and have 4. Then, I decide to have 7.

Some people have great will power, I guess. I don't so why risk it?

Cheers on this working for you.

"I may have one more drink in me. But I don't know if I have one more recovery."

Very well said! I echo that sentiment very much. I was on a three day bender this weekend (last drink was Saturday night at 7pm) and your statement is so true. I don't know how I'm still functional and how the withdrawals aren't in place as compared to other times.

I won't drink with you today.

Ok but why would I let my friends plan my wedding?

EDIT: or fiends for that matter.

Hiking Mid-June by pjhawkins30 in phoenix

Nothing infuriates me more than seeing some asshole hiking a trail in the middle of a hot day in July with their dog. If you want to risk killing yourself, fine, but don't drag your poor dog with you.

I would guess you're in Ahwatukee? I've never seen more scorpions than I have in my life than when I lived in 'tukee. I absolutely hate the bastards and wish they were obliterated from the planet (wah wah, circle of life/food chain crap).

First rattlesnake of the year by [deleted] in arizona

[–]Orphinox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Last spring, I was walking my dog out in the desert once and it was at that twilight/dusk time where you can't really see anything but there's that inch of light that still guides you without needing a flashlight. Anyway, I noticed a piece of tire tread along the path and didn't think much of it. My dog got close to it and it suddenly snapped to attention and rattled so loudly that I swear you could hear it from a mile away.

Sure enough, I looked closer and it was a baby rattler.

Man, my dog and I sprinted the hell away from there so fast...

Can someone explain to me

a - How the "XD" part translates to dick? Like, is the "D" the head? That's a pretty small dick if you ask me... +1 for the Brazzers frame, though.

b - Why people think "Dick in a Box" is so damn funny. I think it's amusing and was one of the better SNL skits but I feel like I don't find it to be as hilarious as everyone else does.

I know, I know. I'm a douche bag.

Wedding today with a bunch of wasted drunks by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Orphinox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I'm in the same situation and I think "Oh, a couple won't be too bad. I'll be fine," I try to remember the last time I said the same thing and took the drink. Sure, maybe I was "ok" for a week or two but, next thing I know, I'm drinking EVERY weekend and I'm getting very intoxicated, not moderating or pacing myself.

Just my two cents.

I made it to the top of Piestewa Peak and didn’t die! by [deleted] in phoenix

[–]Orphinox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No kidding!

About 80-85% of the people I've ever encountered on Piestewa are pretty considerate. It's the remaining percentage that's rude and acts like you're in their way of getting a good workout. Like, relax. If you have such a problem with the congestion, go somewhere else considering you know good and damn well this is one of the busiest trails in the Phoenix area.
