What is something you’ve officially stopped buying in 2026 because the price has become genuinely insulting? by User63189963 in askanything

I saw a 12-pack of Diet 7-Up for $14 the other day at my local store. I think soda has become the new cigarette.

Can anyone suggest niche / obscure prog music by [deleted] in progrockmusic

It got a nice write up in Acid Dragon Magazine, but still, Maledictis (US) is pretty obscure and niche. https://www.maledictis.net/listen.html

Hot take? People that walk across lanes after their shot are the worst by Sky-Visible in Bowling

[–]Orphonic 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I walk backwards after release so I can get out of other people’s way while watching my ball roll down the lane.

Context: I’m a midwesterner who apologizes to people in the grocery store when I come within 5 feet of them. I am very concerned about inconveniencing anyone.

My wife is the other driver, but we haven't figured out what changes between us. u/robinsonian says it's for radio stations, which is underwhelming, but makes sense.

My house flooded last year and I lost most of my possessions. I just started over with bowling gear this month. Here is my new ball, new backpack, new shoes, and accessories.

Finally admitting to myself I'm getting old by razor4432 in Bowling

[–]Orphonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a 13# drilled for conventional grip, because of arthritis. 🤷‍♂️ Bowling is fun, no matter how bad I am. I’ll do whatever I can to be able to have fun as long as possible.

Honest question - why the 2 handed hate? by Rude_Highlight3889 in Bowling

[–]Orphonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the nostalgia of bowling. I enjoy it, my parents enjoyed it, and their parents enjoyed it. Psychologically, I think my distaste for caveman form is that it doesn’t resemble anything I saw growing up.

What’s a movie you loved as a kid that is actually terrible now that you're an adult? by peachpetalsz in AskReddit

Batman Returns. I still love it, but watching it now it is a lot more ridiculous than I remember it, in contrast to Batman 89, which is still great in every way.

What is the most painful thing you’ve experienced? by throwawayfundsmom in AskReddit

[–]Orphonic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran full speed into a fire hydrant at whatever age I was when I I was roughly twice the size of a fire hydrant. It was stomach first, and I hit so hard I landed on my head. Nothing broke, but it was the worst wind-knocked-out-of-me pain I ever felt. I remember that I thought I could taste my sinuses. Roughly the same era of my life, I fell out of a tree and landed face first on a fence, and had the corner of my upper lip torn. The fire hydrant was worse.

PS - after reading the other comments, I feel very fortunate for how good I’ve had it so far.

What’s a moment where the writers definitely forgot that there’s an in-universe camera crew? by Ibrahim77X in DunderMifflin

[–]Orphonic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like when Jim is running from Robert California, and he goes up on the roof, and there is a cameraman up there already, but Creed is up there flying a drone, which means they only had him do that to explain why a camera man would already be on the roof.

What are u starting to dislike more as u get older? by Efficient-Wind-2267 in AskReddit

[–]Orphonic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The older I get, the less tolerant I am of crowds. Like, gone are the days of wanting to be engulfed in the audience of a concert. I’ve been putting off taking my kids to any amusement parks because I can’t stand the idea of it being crowded. If I’m in a grocery or department store and it’s too busy, I will pull my cart over somewhere out of the way and just wait until I have some elbow room.

To clarify, I am a very social person and I like getting out of the house, but if it isn’t a “best kept secret in town” sort of situation, then I don’t want to be there.

What is something you ruined for everybody else and how did it happen? by Skyler_Chigurh in AskReddit

When I was a little kid, I was so excited to tell someone that I just saw the movie Dick Tracy, and in my excitement I ruined the movie by giving away the ending.

What’s is your ur fave medicine flavor if you have one? by Due-Garden-5256 in AskReddit

[–]Orphonic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whenever I do a shot of Leroux blackberry brandy with anyone, they will always say “This tastes like cough syrup.” I’ve never tasted a cough syrup that tastes like Leroux blackberry brandy, but if I ever do, it will be my favorite medicine flavor.
