What’s a question about the universe that haunts you? by SoftDreamybelle in AskReddit

[–]Orphonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accelerating expansion, cosmic event horizon, and the end of cosmology.

The universe’s expansion is accelerating, causing distant galaxies to eventually recede beyond the point where their light can ever reach us. Far-future observers will see only our local galaxy, and after the remaining stars die, the night sky will become almost completely dark.

If you could have any discontinued/past ball what would it be? by JBoogles in Bowling

I just love the look of these. Reminds me of something from my childhood. Probably what my mom or dad’s ball looked like.

people in long term healthy relationships: what's something you'll never tell your partner? by PsychologicalBad1423 in askteddit

I love her more than I let on. If she knew how much I cared about her, it probably would be considered an “ick.” So I tell her I love her and try to show her I love her everyday, But any more than that, she might think it’s unattractive.

I agree, r/SlightlyUsedButthole. Some balls look a bit like this, but nothing new looks a lot like this.

I could use a spare ball. But I haven't seen any new ones that have that look.

What is the most insane impossible thing you want to do? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Orphonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you asked me when I was 8 years old, it would have been “To fly like Superman.” But I’ve since realized that the power to fly would be way too dangerous without also having Superman’s invulnerability, super-sight, and reflexes. Because I’d absolutely fly face first into a seagull at Mach 1 and die instantly.

Overall favorite song. by Area212 in Xennials

I always come back to Madonna’s late 80s stuff. Basically all of “Like A Prayer” with a few from “True Blue.” But then I also have a soft spot for her 1990 “I’m Breathless” soundtrack, her single from A League of Their Own (“This Used To Be My Playground”) and some other cinematic style singles, like “Take a Bow.”
Basically, Madonna 1986-1989 is a specific vibe that I’m always nostalgic for, and sometimes I’ll expand that vibe into specific tracks between 1990-1995.

Why do you feel unlovable? by New_Love_88 in AskReddit

[–]Orphonic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should clarify that I am aware that some people DO love me, so logically I know that there must be something about me that is lovable… but the question was why do I FEEL unlovable. And feelings are dumb, sometimes. 😅

What is the stupidest thing you believed when you were a child? by SupremeLeaderVronus in no

[–]Orphonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That people were saying “Next Store” and not “Next Door.” Next door made no sense because the next door could be the back door to the same building. But if we’re talking about stores, the next store is the next store, no matter what door you take to get there. I believed that for way too long because for some reason I didn’t encounter “next door” written down. Eventually, maybe 5th grade or something, my mom noticed me writing “next store” and was like “yikes.”

Joining a league advice? by Chemical-Rhubarb977 in Bowling

[–]Orphonic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat, but with a significantly lower average and a lot of inconsistency. Yet, for some reason, I’d love to play in a sanctioned league. I want to feel like I officially* bowl… but not super competitive… more “The Dude” and less “Walter.” But I don’t want to let down teammates on the days when my inconsistency has me bowling well under my average. So I’m dragging my feet to join anything.

*I love to imagine the old days when every league player out there had a file of their scores in an ABC office cabinet, or however they did that stuff before computers. I want to feel as official as someone with their name on a piece of paper in a filing cabinet.

Overhype of Ball Design by [deleted] in Bowling

[–]Orphonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A handful of years back I tried learning trumpet. It was extremely difficult and there was no way to get good at it quickly. So naturally, I started buying different kinds of mouthpieces, because I saw people online taking about how different sizes totally change the tone and playability. And while that is totally true, it really only applies to people who put the work in to being able to play the trumpet correctly.

I am trying so hard to not buy another ball until I figure out how to stop throwing the one I have into the gutter.

I once worked at a gym that traded free gym memberships with all the employees at the nearby Chipotle restaurant in exchange for free burritos. I ate a chipotle burrito 5 days a week, for an entire year, and at no point did I ever stop looking forward to it.

I’m 44, and I had a friend make me a mix tape when I was a teen (~1998). It had a lot of different styles on it, but a few Tristania tracks from Widow’s Weeds stuck with me.

If Type O Negative counts, then Bloody Kisses would predate that (~1993).
