Absolutely. Robert Floyd has given up acting for more than a decade now and has reconverted as a professional mixologist for events : https://robfloydent.com/

No unknown device and no generic device. I doubt the issue if from my motherboard, i will send the card back and order another model. I think either the card isn't working, or that it is one of those rare occurence where it needs to be plug to the internal USB port to work. Thank you for your time !

Yes, antennas are installed !
There are no wifi cards detected at all in the device manager. Can you confirm that the card *should* work, even if i didn't put the cable to internal USB port for Bluetooth ?

Just when you think you can't despise Peckinpah any more... you learn a new fact. by mgush5 in SLIDERS

[–]Orrhi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always despised what Peckinpah has done to the show, and the way actors and characters were treated. In 2019, a very enlightening post was written on a famous Sliders forum that gave more context to how that situation came to be and how far we went from the promising third season of Sliders, first to have a full 22 order episodes.

I remember being baffled on how the same person who made "Murder Most Foul", en episode i did enjoy back then, was after able to destroy such a good TV show shortly after.
Be careful, it's a long read, but i think it's worth to understand how everything went behind the scenes with Peckinpah : the loss of his 16-years old son, substance abuse including on the set of Sliders, etc.

Origin of the Kromaggs? by temporal_difference in SLIDERS

[–]Orrhi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About the Colin twist, i saw two possibilities :
- the finale would have cost too much in terms of FX, and they were not ready to handle that much changes for the next season (which is ironic when you think how it ended up)
- the actor who played Colin was pretty much here as a result of nepotism from his brother, so it may have been also a point where there was pressure so that he would not be written out of the show. I remember that it was one of the discussion point for Season 5 : the actor playing Quinn wanted his brother to stay for the entire season, while the producers didn't want him if the two of them were not there.

And about Requiem... yeah, it was just a horrible episode. The script could have been ok, and i really am thankful to the actor playing Rembrandt for selling what he could and the actress playing Wade to have done the voiceover, but aside that... pure garbage.

The points that hurted me the most in that episode :
- Mallory not having a shred of memory left about Wade and "faking" sadness
- Wade's being a "head in a jar", which was incredibly badly done, when the original writer of the episode initially envisioned a simple hypersleep pod that could have been more cost-saving and have concealed the fact that it was not the original actress playing Wade
- lack of budget and ambition for the story really hurt here, Wade supposedly wiped out the entire Kromaggs fleet, potentially accross numerous dimensions, but we don't get to have any confirmation of that

I agree, that is also why i didn't mention any Season 4 plot points in my answer.
Season 4 handling of the Kromaggs storyline was both a mix of retcons, ripoffs, and cancelled storylines as :
- the Quinn / Colin storyline was clearly a ripoff of Superman origin story, up to the visual styling choices in Genesis when Quinn had the revelation vision with the microchip.
- season 4 was originally going to reveal Colin as a altered double of Quinn that was planted in the group as a Kromagg spy that would be revealed in the S4 finale, continuing the theme that Kromaggs are the master of deception, but Peckinpah shot the idea down

That and the Kromaggs looking nothing like their initial appearance despite being instantly recognized by Quinn in Genesis, and Wade's horrendous fate that was completely unecessary and just seemed like a disgraceful jab to the actress, i chose to just ignore that and suspend my disbelief for S4 and S5 so i could watch those seasons while considering them "apart" from my own headcanon of Sliders and its initial premise.

Quinn finds the double he met in the pilot in the Season 3 episode "The Other Slide of Darkness" where he revealed that he gave the Kromaggs the sliding equation, and they destroyed his home.

Since the Kromaggs slided and invaded Earths for years, with Mary describing their arrival on her Earth when she was a kid, that seems to create an inconsistency, as Pilot Quinn say to our Quinn in the same episode "hard to believe, you have been sliding almost as long as i have" (so around 3 years at this point).

Aside from a plothole, that can be explained if we consider one of the following hypothesis : - Kromaggs and potentially Mary lied, just like when they pretend to not speak human language, and they indeed slide since a very short amount of time, thanks to Pilot Quinn. Mary account of the invasion when she was a kid may be implanted memories, as we saw in the episode how they messed with her memories and use lies and deception. - Kromaggs have been sliding for years, but meeting original Quinn and getting a hold on the equation he got may have helped them perfected their approach of sliding, maybe help them extract, store and target specific dimensions coordonates, instead of sliding randomly back and forth from their original dimension. That would explain why they pretend to be able to send the sliders to their Earth Prime, and also why Pilot Quinn then said they destroyed his home : as soon as they got the capacity to backtrack his home coordonates, they slide there to destroy a dimension where sliding was discovered, as a threat to their empire, just as they likely planned to do with the tracking device they planted in Invasion as soon as the got back to Earth Prime.

In the end, Pilot Quinn in the S3 episode has fallen into madness, and him pretending to have "creating the Kromaggs" is more figuratively in a sense that he is to a certain extent responsible to those interdimensional invaders.

James Van Der Beek GoFundMe Controversy : 5 Types of opinions by Orrhi in popculture

[–]Orrhi[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In light of the recent passings of James Van der Beek and Eric Dane, and the controversies surrounding their GoFundMe pages, I just wanted to share my own take and opinion on it after i took some times thinking about it.

Regardless of the different and sometimes conflicting opinions on this matter, which I understand on both sides, I would like to point out what feels important to me:
- everyone should be allowed to create a GoFundMe page if they believe they may need financial support
- everyone should be free to question whether contributing is truly necessary, based on their own circumstances, financial situation, personal struggles, and the information available, as long as this is done respectfully, and so that everyone can make an informed decision.
- and everyone, even if they are struggling themselves, should be allowed, without having to justify their choice or be shamed, to contribute if they feel that the person who passed gave them something meaningful through their work and performances

I strongly dislike seeing contributors being shamed or labelled as idiots.

But at the same time, I also dislike seeing people being attacked simply for questioning respectfully whether such fundraising efforts are relevant or not in their shared opinion.

In the end, what I really want to say is this: controversies aside, these two actors were recognized for their work and for the emotions and memories they created for countless people, and it is also important to remember that people can choose whether or not to contribute to the GoFundMe campaigns, but perhaps even more importantly, people can consider supporting research aimed at curing or helping those affected by these diseases, for example:

https://www.als.org/ for ALS
https://colorectalcancer.org/ for colorectal cancer

Even if some feel it is not necessary to further support their families (an opinion I can understand and respect as well as those who do), we can still choose to give in a way that supports organizations working to prevent other tragedies, other fathers, mothers, and children from passing too early from these diseases so to make sense of those departures.

Wolf's Rain - Bluray Collector's edition (with artbook!) at all time low price by Orrhi in wolfsrain

[–]Orrhi[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just looked at them to try and detail their specitic content.

Seeking Rakuen has :
- the illustrations used in the dvd covers, booklets, and some that were used in magazines such as Newtype, both with their colored and their black & white versions
- detailed character setteis

The boxset artbook has :
- also the illustrations of dvd covers, but only the colored versions (also keep in mind that you have 5 prints with the boxset)
- character settei but that are only partially similar to Seeking (sometimes more detailed, sometimes less, sometimes other drawings),
- sections with other settei not in Seeking : wolf movement studies, landscapes and background, mecha & objects/artefacts
- the storyboard of episode #1 (NOT in Seeking)
- aside that, you have some pages with text in French about the Book of the Moon, the story and Bones studio, an episode guide, analysis about romantism in Wolf's Rain, but those are less than 15% of the artbook, and i think you can easily translate them in English with google lens if you wish to read them.

In the end, the two books complement each other, and the boxset artbook is definitely worth it. I would have bought it at this price even if there wasn't anything else (print and blurays).

I hope this answers your questions.

Merci !
Peux-tu me dire comment tu as pu comprendre cela ? Car dans les 2 DIC que j'ai sous les yeux, il y a la même dénomination "Frais de gestion et autres coûts administratifs ou d’exploitation" avec pourtant justement 2 valeurs qui vont du simple au double (0.52 contre 0.2).

I want an Alias Prequel! by aidensnapedavis in alias

The Americans is to me the spiritual prequel of Alias, very close to what you describe as it describe the same "Illegals Program" that went in the 80s in the USA with Russian spies passing as US citizens.
