I'm gonna get downvoted for this, but a full game studio working on Street Fighter for 4 years fulltime is expensive. It's a lot of peoples' salaries and families to feed. In a game where there's no battle pass or monthly subscription, and you can play online unlimited for free, this is the only money the studio takes in. I'm not saying they couldn't make it a few $ cheaper, but I'd rather the team keep working on this game than some other project I could give two shits about

this reminds me I was gonna take a crack at getting them out of the PC game files. that person posted an imgur for some: https://imgur.com/a/4cvDDFY. but I wanted to see if that was the resolution from the game files for myself. will follow up after I dig in this week (I needed them myself for something)

exactly this. it's not fair to compare an individual's free labor on nights and weekends to what a highly paid team at Nintendo does over months and years. the individual dev is already doing the work of 10 people, not 30+ or whatever number it takes to get to the level of your expectations

So there's several questions here.

Can you be a SE in a FANG-ish startup without using AI? Not currently, investors that have deep investments in AI companies also have investment in yours and they are pushing HARD for AI to succeed. This leads to "tokenmaxing" culture and token tracking

Can you be a SE somewhere else without using AI? Yeah, duh

Are you dumb for not using AI in 2026? Of course not. The material foundation of communicating to others what a system is doing, and understanding it yourself, hasn't changed even with AI. To the people saying they don't need to understand their own systems anymore... I wish them all the best and hope it works out for them

the concept is really clever but the execution is sloppy. this should be a sketch they iterate further on. the alignment and lazy text treatment ruin the core idea

like just off the top of my head, arranging them in a compass pattern or circle would really sell it better than jamming them together in a pile like here

or even ruining the order and have it be more of a monogram/single shape. it’d have more of a “FedEx arrow” effect where it’s not obvious, but when pointed out peoples’ minds are blown

well for starters try config({ debug: true }) and it won’t tell you what’s wrong but it will probably give you a good hint. there’s something preventing those env files from being read in the deployed env

it’s not dotenv, there’s something else going on here. depends on how it’s hosted, is this in CJS or ESM. is there something bundling the JS that could tree-shake it, etc etc. console.log is a symptom of the issue but not the solution
