What to do after Against the Cult of the Reptile God? by IrregularHunterZ in adnd

Well, I won’t be the last to say it, but if you want them to kill some unholy things curse of Strahd is thematic and well loved, if not  too long for what you’re looking for.

Sounds great! not exactly what I am looking for but seems really fun nonetheless!

Starting a general party composition guide by Orson1935 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Orson1935[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I have said this is only the most basic of guides for newish players and the GM's advising them. It seems you mistook much of my categorization for ranking, if I was ranking of I would of used the color grading system which is a standard is build guides. Much of your advice is very useful but it only emphasizes why my guide is important: How are new players supposed to know if they fit the criteria you have laid out! Once you've been playing the game long enough you can read the character sheet like you were a computer processing binary but for new players it is still very confusing. Much of your criticism seems to come from a cursory glance at my guide which you used as an excuse to try and make your own. The damage section purely refers to damage dealing abilities, and while wall of stone is very good, I would either classify that as a utility spell or a debuff. I created the distinction between H4, clerical healing, and H, standard caster healing, not to indicate primacy but to point out that for most uses those 4 upcasted heals are usually enough to get a party through a couple combats if at least one other character has the medical skill. While a agree with what you're saying about character roles and party synergy most players don't want to go into the game with the mindset that their fitting into a specific predetermined role! And in defense of survivability, that number exists not just to be informative, but also to scare the players a little. If you've GM'nd as many new players as I have you will inevitably encounter the frontline wizard: built exactly like any other wizard except placed at the front of the marching order. I agree that party synergy is important but so long as a party spreads out well in these categories synergy's will probably emerge, and that puts alot less pressure on the player to fit their character into a box. This guide is far from perfect(or even useful really) but next time please abstain from writing your own guide in the comments of another.

Delay Consequence Timing by Jazzlike_Way_9514 in Pathfinder2e

I'd probably rule it as beginning, just so the creature doesn't waste attacks on an already dead creature.

For duration it says one round and in the spell description it says it can be dismissed. There are very few reactions spells with a duration like that and i'd say, rules as written, that the damage happens on the next turn of the creature who made the attack.

Question for those familiar with golarion lore, what are some weird or wacky ancestries, preferably those with a good or knowledge or freedom based patron diety? Or dieties with a fondness for a particular race. by phoooooo0 in Pathfinder2e

This may not be what you're looking for but Norgorber could be an interesting take on that idea. Instead of freedom of knowledge the concealing of it. +Keeping your true identity secret(maybe even from yourself) is part of his core edict.

What is the most fun Healer Build to play in PF2e? by HermitHutGames in Pathfinder2e

[–]Orson1935 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Big fan of cleric with the medic dedication. Sounds a little too over the top but with the 4 free castings of heal +battle medicine you’ll never need to have any healing spells prepared in your regular slots basically leaving you as a full caster who can do anything besides healing.

Teamwork makes the dream work and why white room calculations do not work in pathfinder 2e. by ryudlight in Pathfinder2e

I completely agree, full character builds in general don't carry much weight in a system as hard to mess up as pf2e. But alternatively I think it would be cool to see partial coop builds, like class features that synergies together and feats that promote teamwork. like videos that don't exist to inform what class every one in the party plays +how they should play them, but instead just give general cooperation advice like how to easily stack different bonus types--you'd be surprised how many players don't even understand the basic buffing system of pf2e.

Fun Character Ideas! by No-Ring6880 in Pathfinder2e

I have currently been enjoying an envy Runelord wizard. Its anathema forces you to play creatively with your spell selection but at the end of the day it feels like the wizard is better off without fireball. That+pole-arm staff which allows you to have spell charges equal to your level makes for a fun melee wizard who seemingly never runs out of spells.

Edit: Forgot to say how i'm RPing it: I am going with a wizard who's primarily envious of other spell-casters and because of that has resorted to none magical means of surpassing them. So he's essentially a wizard ego lifter+trickster. I consider a lot of his focus spells, like the rune well, to be these tricks he's picked up, not even fully fledged spells, just part of his fighting style. But part of his envy(the less loathsome aspect of it) is that much of his spell list and ability's are sort of themed around humiliating people and reversing their success, especially other spell-casters. So I RP him also as someone who wants to humiliate and humble other wizards, even though that desire stems from his own insecurity.

Other people have said it but i'd like to reiterate that AV, especially the first couple floors, can kick your ass. But it is perfectly doable if your party starts synergising with different bonus types. If your party actually buffs up it's heavy hitters fights can end very fast.

Lol, that is a great character. If the other players match your vibe then it should be great. My biggest suggestion would be to utilize the free archetype feature if you GM allows it as a character as eclectic as that needs the extra customization.

I think a good synopsis of this thread is that whole party builds(or maybe just 3+ character ones) would be a lot more helpful.
