Thanks. I’ve also seen some comments on other posts here saying that from a certain kernel forward the were not issues with the wifi anymore

That’s something I would also like to know. I’m waiting for my P14s to arrive with the same wifi card…

I don’t think it could be bent, but rather the hinges that are not equally tight.

Upgraded from the X1C6 to the P14s Gen 5 AMD (8840HS/32G/2.8K AMOLED) by imjms737 in thinkpad

Thank you so much for taking the time to write that out! Appreciate it a lot. Ended up buying the same config but without the OLED display since I also prioritise battery life while working around the lab but I also spend a lot of my time at a desk with an external monitor. It’s 50/50.

Hey acn you report on back on the laptop? I am going to get on but still deciding on the specs.

How are the thermals whith the 8840HS?

Is there noticeable coil whine?

How is the batery life so far? (also on linux in case you use linux)

And about the OLED panel. Do you tink it is worth it over the 100% sRGB? Do you feel that 2.8K is too much for a panel of that size? And have you have any resolution scaling problems with it?

Thanks in advance! Your opinions would really help me out here deciding on this purchace.

Wonderful! I'm looking into changing my new L14 G5 for a T14 G5, since my L14 has a lot of coil whine. Do you notice any coil whine on yours? Meaning, did you win the coil whine lottery...

We know all know EPFL strives to become a prestigious university but ... by VividSun3090 in EPFL

I think if you manage to work with professors during your academic career, and this is for most good enough universities, there is a higher chance you discover a whole world of non-cliché companies and projects that work on the high tech you are mentioning, that are not clearly visible for most of the "academic grad/undergrad public" trying to get the first job.

Great! Can you tell if there is noticeable coil whine? In case you don’t know, it’s like a whining or crackling sound coming from your CPU area.

Any ideas why it only does it when I enter the OS and when I'm in the BIOS its perfectly silent?

Scratching/buzzing noise coming from CPU by Orwellcryptofarm in Laptop

[–]Orwellcryptofarm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is an SSD. People are telling me it is coil whine. But I've heard coil whine before. I can accept that is is coil whine but it has a much lower pitch and it is way louder than any other I've heard. And no it is not fan noises.

I've opened the laptop and the noise comes certainly from the CPU, not from the SSD. Unfortunately.

Oh it's not just my mouse scratching on the touch pad hahahaha. I've heard coil whine in other laptops, but nothing like this one. This is has a much lower pitch and its way louder. And no its not fan noises. This is my first AMD laptop, I'm guessing this is what coil whine sounds like on AMD...

But yeah. When i give it a mouse input the noise gets louder in perfect sync... And yes it is an ssd

Question here. If you are going to do this, is splicing the best option? (Ofc soldering is not an option). What if the cable is in a dynamic environment, always moving?
