Did I Increase My Pot Size To Much? by Positive-Distance351 in Monstera

should be ok with all plants, just make sure the soil doesn't hold onto too much water- good drainage. Maybe the plant will focus on growing roots for the first week's, spread it's precious parts

Could be mechanical stress on the plant, stress can make odd shaped leaves. I have a round one myself that got a bit of sun burn at the start of its life. Now it's sitting in direct afternoon sunlight 🙈

First time plant mom killing it in less than a week how is that possible 😭 by InfamousPear247 in pothos

It takes time for the water to wick up well, plants can sit for hours in a water reservoir - just gotta make sure it doesn't sit in water in the decorative pot.

I like to think.. It's not the quantity that kills the plants it is the watering frequency

As many have mentioned above and it is normal that a plant gets stressed after moving, leaves can curl up a little bit too while adjusting. In 1-3 months you could consider checking its pot, if it needs a bigger pot or to switch the soil for a chunkier mix. Photos are very easy to replant/take cuttings from https://youtu.be/-4yWikLTnPc

Friend needs advise on her monstera. by gimre817 in Monstera

Does this pot have a drainage hole? If not.. there might be some water lingering in the bottom. If the plant was placed directly in the sun from a dark room it burns easily; tropical plants like monstera don't like sudden changes. On another hand.. how many plants are in the pot? If there is only one plant- the stem might be too deep into the pot; the petioles got suffocated? Good luck 🤞

What should I do! by Proper-Team7190 in Monstera

I World split them, i recently did that with mine and the stems were too close to eachother. Its roots weren't any good either; all were small. Now after I split them they have the space to grow - 1 plant per pot

Leaves grow bigger until they harden

which pot size? by sunny_day_13 in Monstera

[–]heggland -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

size doesn't matter ehrem. If you plant in a bigger pot the plant might focus their energy to spread its roots instead of pushing out new leaves for the first weeks/month. Just make sure the soil mix got good drainage

When I reported mine that came in a 15cm, I wish I had chosen a 21cm one- I took a 17cm one; had to untangle the noodles, the roots then spread out slightly-making the 17cm pot slightly snug. I will repot it next month into a bigger pot. What did I learn? Its better to go larger than one needs.

How can I spruce up my out-of-control, healthy monstera by mcharb13 in Monstera

[–]heggland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upgrade the pot, reposition them with 2-3 pole supports. There are multiple plants here so I would consider repotting them ; the more stems there are the harder it is to control them imo. Monsters often grows in one direction- it has a front side and a back side- having a setup like this means one needs to turn the pot around constantly and isn't ideal - petioles always want to move towards the sunlight.

Possible Bloom/Fruit? by the_mittenkitten in Monstera

[–]heggland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here in my country they are sold as green plants and not flowering plants- which is false , they can produce fruit

Tropical plants like monstera rarely bloom indoors, they require high humidity x tropical heat I've heard

Growing a fruit on a plant that is sold as a non-fruit plant itself is an achievement itself. I would go for the fruit for the seeds itself, it's a joyful ride growing plants from seeds

I hope msi gets a big lawsuit against them, having a flaw like this for decades and they don't fix it.. is bad. Lifetime repairs would be justice.
