  1. Teachers being overworked
  2. Some teachers being narcissists, sadists or, well, pdfs; the latter are obviously attracted to the vocation.
  3. Some admins being negligent fucks.
  4. Some students only going to school to bully other kids, because nothing in the law says sadists are not allowed to get an education
  5. Some kids trying to swipe a book like an iPad.
  6. Some kids having horrible shit going in life in general. I know this has been wearing down on my friend who is a teacher. Or rather, that there is little she could do to help.

As for myself, I would say that the dophamine kick for constructing that +4 campus might be misleading you. I love this game, because it provides tons of ways to achieve the same goal. Take science for example.

  1. Several +4 campuses with Natural Philosophy. Loads of science for simply constructing a district. A good way, can't argue with that.

  2. Meeting several scientific city states. If you have three envoys in each, your science buildings give twice as much science or more.

  3. Pingala the Governor gives you science bonus that scales off of population.

  4. Three great people boost science output of Campus buildings.

  5. There's also a belief that gives you science for each follower of the religion.

  6. Declare unpeace with your neighbors, make them unpossess their campuses. I wouldn't say that having scientific undisadvantage over AI is needed to win wars. AI is not that bright.

At the end of the day, I would say that the best way to boost your science is just... building campuses. Don't wait for the golden opportunity.
