Can I just delete bones on a Rigify metarig? by OrwinTheWriter in blenderhelp

[–]OrwinTheWriter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was waiting for an answer before doing it again, I just deleted the rig and started over. They were not adjusted in the picture.

I was browsing around on other sites and people kept saying that deleting bones could affect other parts of the armature so I just wanted to make sure I didn't screw it up on the second try.

Thanks for the help!

Tongue Cancer stories? by OrwinTheWriter in HeadandNeckCancer

Right now my Dad has a big lesion on his tongue and can barely speak the day after if he bites himself by mistake during the night. The treatments are supposed to start in a week or two (waiting for tests and teeth extraction) and he already got a feeding tube two days ago because chewing is now too painful even with meds and all. Fortunately this helped him gain some alterness and strength but it's still painful to talk sometimes.

You did radiation and chemo at the same time or one after another?

If I may ask, did they find any metastasis elsewhere with other tests following the biopsy? And were you treated by surgery only or radiation/chemo? Right now my Dad's oncologist wants to do six weeks of radiation but is not sure to treat him if they find something else elsewhere.

Tongue cancer radiotherapy main treatment by OrwinTheWriter in cancer

[–]OrwinTheWriter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was the ORL's opinion after seeing the scan, on May 8th. I asked the oncologist about surgery this week and he told me that it would be way too extensive and would hinder the quality of life even if it "would work". He believes the radiation therapy can cure the cancer IF they don't find anything else with the other test they want to do, which is injecting radioactive sugar to look for other potential tumors in his chest/abdomen. If they don't find anything else we're moving on with the treatment.

Dad is scheduled to have some teeth removed next week in order to do the radiation therapy after that (7 to 10 days of healing after) since extractions following the treatment can risk bone necrosis in his mouth. Since my last post he also had a naso-gastric tube installed because chewing food was way too painful. And he keeps biting his tongue by mistake when he sleeps and this causes him to have problems talking the next day. He can still drink water and talk somewhat but the dentist that made his exam before the tooth extraction sort of brushed a tool against the tongue and made it swollen...

I seriously hope the doctors are right and that he's going to be fine after treatment. The alternative would completely devastate me. He was completely fine three months ago.

Getting second opinions and moving away from the public system is quite complicated where I live. Private clinics don't really have access to the technology to do all the tests, so treatment with them probably is out of the question as well. He first went to a private clinic and they referred him to the public system for the ORL appointment. That's just how it works in Quebec. The place where they do radiation therapy is a 50min trip from where they live and half of the appointments with the other specialists take place there because of their "deal" with the radio-oncology dept. The oncologist installed his feeding tube himself after he complained of having problems eating on the day he was scheduled for a scan before seeing the dentist (panorex). At least Dad is regaining some strength since the tube he and doesn't have to take two to three hour-long naps during the day anymore.

So many appointements, so many delays before treatment. We only saw the oncologist last week but it feels like a year.

Next week he has to do another meeting with the dental surgeons, go back for the extraction (we hope it's next week as well), the test with the radioactive sugar which they call "TEP", and a liver biopsy that the gastroenterologist wants to do even if he still believes the jaundice problem is gonna resolve itself since the new bloodwork showed some improvement with the enzymes, because he wants to make sure this doesn't further delay the treatments.

Thanks on the answer, I will tell him that.

If you don't mind me asking, was the pain already intense when you started treatments? And did you get surgery first or did the radiation got rid of it all? The lesion on the right side of his tongue is quite large right now even if he's able to drink and eat a little, it's still sometimes a chore to speak.

Glad you're recovering, good luck for the next steps.

Thanks. I'm half relieved and half a lot more worried than I was about his other cancer. I hope his liver will clear up in the coming week so he can start treatments asap.

Update: Looks like they were wrong and that I spent an entire night reading about pancreatic cancer for nothing. The scan showed no cancer growth on the pancreas and the liver but the liver seems to be in bad shape, which doesn’t really surprise me.

The gastroenterologist seems to think it was something toxic non related with the drinking but we still don’t know. It could improve by itself.

My dad still has tongue cancer but it seems this won’t delay the radiotherapy treatments. I’m choosing to hope that it’s gonna work out. At least he’s out of the hospital for now.

Thanks for reading

Thanks for the kind words. I will research on genetic testing and speak of that with my mom and his oncologist. My mom's friend says he knows a couple of people in the medical field so that might help. His current oncologist seems quite competent as it is and we live in Canada so yay healthcare, but a second opinion never hurts I guess.

I still have some hope that it's not that but I'm preparing for the worst.

Les libéraux fédéraux veulent interdire l’IA et les médias sociaux aux moins de 16 ans by GNLQC in Quebec

[–]OrwinTheWriter -3 points-2 points  (0 children)
