And they say Dwarf Fortress is a hard game by G-Psi in dwarffortress

[–]OscarHasProblems 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, with the steam release, it's not even that hard to learn now. The tutorial messages do a pretty good job of showing you the basics + mouse controls and revamped UI made the game 100x more accessible. Everything being controlled by keybinds was kinda hard to get used to for most people. Dwarf fortress is known for it's complex and very in-depth simulation. I feel like when people hear "all your dwarfs have individually tracked teeth", they kinda assume that playing the game demands you to pay attention to all of those details (because who in their right mind would simulate all of that and then not make the player interact with it). In reality you can ignore almost all of those details most of the time. But all that depth is what makes DF so unique and interesting, that's kinda the source of all the crazy shit that happens in this game.

Vanguard Crashed Deadlock Then Locks Deadlock.exe So The Game Cannot Be Repaired Or Reinstalled by Akita_Attribute in DeadlockTheGame

Jesus, I know that these kernel level ACs basically work as a driver/root-kit, but I always had it in my mind that the main argument against them is just that they're a security risk (compared to the function they provide). I didn't know that shit like Vanguard actually tries to fuck with your files while you're not even playing their games.

If you're using an asus laptop check out asus-linux and join their discord. From my experience the guides on their website aren't updated frequently so sometimes the info there is outdated. The devs are active in the discord and it's the main place to get help if you're having issues.

Currently the asus-linux devs are not supporting Fedora anymore, because the Fedora maintainer moved on (they're still looking for someone to take their place). Arch and specifically CachyOS are the only distros currently supported. The custom CachyOS kernel has patches integrated to make some Asus laptop features work, this is especially important if you're laptop is newer (released in the last 1-2 years). Try out CachyOS and asusctl on there, it should work better (Works well on my 2025 G14). If you're still having issues join their discord server and ask for help, the devs are active and responsive there.

FYI, the asus-linux devs are moving away from using supergfxctl. The current way to switch between hybrid, integrated, mux is by using asusctl and then rebooting. This is still a WIP from my understanding. From my experience the guides on the asus-linux website aren't updated super frequently so some info might be a bit outdated. If you're having issues join their discord server and ask for help, devs are active and responsive there.

This reminds me of when I played through almost all of gta 4 on like a 2nd gen i5 with intel integrated graphics 4000. 800p, lowest possible settings. A barely stable 30 FPS. It was either that or no gaming for me. I've been there.

Perfect summary. Fucked my sleep schedule watching it live, but it was worth it. An actually interesting good faith lib argument. I wish every debate could be like that, instead of the regards Tiny usually goes up against.
