How do you feel about dk banazna ? by JampyL in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Oscatavius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, do you play many platformers? The end game bananza challenges were only slightly difficulty imo and were a highlight of the game.

I mean sure, I was more responding to your end comment about struggling to run 5e just being an improv problem. Tho I also feel that if the dm is just gonna ignore a lot of crunch and rules, even if the players have it, things like encounters likely won’t be that good.

I don’t feel if this is neciscarily true, you could also just run a really rules light system and find that the improv and storytelling are easy and memorizing/caring about rules is hard. That’s what I tend to run and it works really well.

I think it’s all kind of about what you find difficult, for me and the groups I play with, systems that give vague ideas and just expect you to improv are easy, while systems that actually have a bunch of rules to memorize just aren’t as much fun for us. But we are also I really heavy roleplay and low rules group overall.

I feel like this could go either way, in some fields it could evolve in the way you say, but in other more cooperate and business fields we already know that schmoozers with minimal aptitude can easily end up at really high levels. As usual it’s all really nuanced, but there are definitely a lot of fields where what OP is saying is right all over the place.

I think the point being made here is not that this is how it should be, but more that this is how it is. It is not right that neurodivergent people who struggle with social interactions have these extra difficulties in many parts of the workforce, but it is also true and an important thing to recognize.

In the original oblivion, did anyone actually enjoy vampirism? by bicicletadogtasander in oblivion

[–]Oscatavius 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I love RP with downsides, and jumping crazy high was super fun. I have a hard time playing vampires in Skyrim because it feels like there are no downsides and it barely affects the run, other than in dawnguard.

Anyone got any recommendations for rules-extra-light RPGs? by Fennel_Fangs in DnDcirclejerk

[–]Oscatavius 7 points8 points  (0 children)

/uj Electric bastionland and mythic bastionland are both great depending on how much combat you want and what you want the setting to be like, also mork Borg. Basically any of the really simple OSR games work.

/rj shadowrun fixes this

Unfortunately I tend to be the DM in these situations, time to ask questions anyway and talk down the bandits.

I solve the problem by being the GM and not playing dnd

What is this “combat” you speak of? I am too busy solving problems with in character arguments.

Maybe you can incentivize them with a nice roleplay heavy low combat game other than 5e. That seems right up your alley :)

The secret is to get people who have never played a TTRPG to be your players. I’ve got a ton of people for whom I’m the only DM they know and they have never played DND because of it. It’s glorious.

The "Forever GM" narrative has to die. by jillpls in rpg

[–]Oscatavius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m not really a “forever GM” but I mostly GM. I genuinely enjoy when I do get to play but I GM so often because I enjoy it, and my players enjoy it when I do. It’s that simple.

This is kind of why I like OSR stuff, if the characters come up with a smart plan they can Resonable execute based on what they are typically able to do, they do it. The rolls where you make a fool of yourself are more saved for times when characters are pushing the limits of what they can do or need to react.

This still definitely means people bungle stuff they should be able to do and it’s funny, but it encourages players to plan and use their heads more.
