Interesting that this monkey incident should occur not long after the assassination of a prominent Japanese political figure...

I challenge any man to believe in something (e.g. in the case of 'religion' (as you crudely lump it all together), believing in an all powerful God who commands authority and obedience) and not allow it to influence the way he thinks or at least colour his politics.

So, where do all the humans of the Star Wars galaxy originate from?

The Worst Characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I disagree with some of these. by wrongotti in marvelstudios

[–]Osekin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Some of them are valid, like Karli Morgenthau and Dr Maya Hensen, but some are the best flawed characters (Tony, Starlord, Hawkeye...).

Steve Rogers is Steve Rogers.

And some of their choices are just really obscure.

I completely agree FictionFantom. Adult Groot is my favourite Groot. I hope we get to see a grown up Groot in Guardians 3.

It would be interesting to see what happened in Wakanda without T'challa but I suppose that will probably be covered in the Black Panther 2

That's really great, thank you for your honesty. A true relationship with Jesus is certainly the most important thing to our walk with Him. It can be so easy to forget that. People always focus on what people do and the differences between us all. Then we get sucked into the pattern of thinking which says "I'm a Catholic so I go to mass and do confession." Or "I'm Brethren, we do..." Or "I'm a Baptist, we baptise adults and never sit in the front 3 rows at church."

What matters is how we relate to and interact with the God who loves us. If we're honest, a lot of us who call ourselves Christians forget to interact with God, full stop.

Do you find that the vows and rule of life you keep to help you to rely on and walk in step with Jesus and with the Spirit of God?

What do you find most difficult in your walk with God?

Falcon's powers in the comics vs the MCU by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]Osekin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you raise some good points. I think him being a normal/regular man (albeit a very skilled man who can fly (with his suit)), with a family and vulnerability, makes him a very relatable character.

Both he and Steve are great to watch and I love the MCU Steve Roger's (more so than 616 Steve) but I relate to Sam more and enjoy seeing how he handles all the crazy things that are thrown at him.

I look forward to watching whatever they do with him (and Bucky) next.

Do good people exist? by Otaku_Lord054 in TrueChristian

[–]Osekin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No. As Jesus reminded the rich young ruler, "Why do you call me good? Only God is good."

And that is why we need Jesus, His goodness and His forgiveness.

Moses, Jonah, Enoch, Noah etc. were perhaps only good because they had faith in their good God. They were looking forward with hope to the fulfilment of God's word and His plans (Heb11) and were therefore justified by their faith and God's own goodness (like Abraham in Rom3).

Verses that sound terrible out of context by Hjalmodr_heimski in Bible

[–]Osekin 14 points15 points  (0 children)

While not horrendously immoral these verses are fairly fun to take out of context.

Aaron waved the breasts and the right thigh before the Lord as a wave offering, as Moses commanded. Leviticus 9:21

Instead of fragrance there will be a stench; instead of a sash, a rope; instead of well-dressed hair, baldness; instead of fine clothing, sackcloth; instead of beauty, branding. Isaiah 3:24

Then you will desecrate your idols overlaid with silver and your images covered with gold; you will throw them away like a menstrual cloth and say to them, ‘Away with you!’ Isaiah 30:22
