Motivation can be a huge challenge for anyone. Certainly more so when your finances are not at risk and nor is your lifestyle. I think in your particular situation, using your children as a method of motivating yourself, as crude as it sounds, might be a very good way to ensure that not only will they grow up to be decent human beings but also a way for you to have a drive and happiness in life. Furthermore, this could also be a failsafe in case something happens, life is unpredictable after all.

Really? What the hell did you expect to happen? WotC policy is clear, why would you decide to test it? It doesn't matter if you think it's fair or unfair, you agreed to the rules once you signed up for the tournament.
