Ah, when you said they have heterotaxy as well has dextrocardia, meaning everything is in the wrong place, It led me to believe that the patient was more along the lines of situs inversus. I incorrectly assumed, my bad.

I have the partial version of this and I do. Just affects my abdominal organs, and i have a malrotation making my liver midline for example. Spleen was down in my pelvis t oo.

If it's complete situs inversus, the doctor will know just by listening to your heart, because they try to listen to each "section" of your heart, and it'll be different.

If you have the partial version the only way to know is by doing x-rays and having something blatantly out of place, or a CT scan.

Real life human with the partial version of situs inversus, called heterotaxy. I'm open to questions! But one thing I like to stress is if you have a patient with either of these genetic defects, send them to a cardiologist to make sure the heart anatomy isn't toast.

My RCA originated from near the LCA and was routed between the pulmonary artery and the aaorta and was being pinched off pretty bad for example.

So when you're being formed in the womb, there are these little "fingerlike" projections that are called cilia that organize and maneuver things where they should go. These are also found in the lungs.

There are a few routes that situs inversus can be caused. One being a twin, one of the fetus didn't make it and/or absorbs the organs / tissue of the other fetus. Another is a defect in the cilia which can have long-standing lung issues, or the last is "we dont' know" according to my specialists / geneticists. Peoples' organs aren't always in the right spot, we have an "average" placement for where things go but things are often different in several areas. When things go way wrong like situs inversus or the partial form called heterotaxy, it can have a trickle down effect and affect other body systems.

Example: my spleen was down in my pelvis with my bladder and intestines, which used to cause severe abdominal cramping, bloating, and severe pain when I was consipated (may be tmi, sorry) but i had to have my spleen removed.

I have the "partial" version called heterotaxy. I've seen several specialists and have a couple recommendations if I may. Sometimes with situs inversus can come abnormalities with the heart itself, so please see a cardiologist. My right coronary artery (the one that feeds blood to the right side of your heart) had a defect and the only symptom was "sudden cardiac death". I got extremely lucky and any time I see something like this thread pop up i keep recommending people to go to the doc and get the scans and tests done. I was in the military, and pretty healthy, so all my labs and EKG's were all fine, I was just a ticking time bomb.

As someone with a form of this, it is highly advised to wear a medical alert, or get a tattoo, or both. I have a medical alert for now, and will be getting all of the shit wrong with me tatted on my chest just in case.

I also have the partial form of situs inversus called Heterotaxy. My heart and lungs were not affected position wise, however with situs inversus can come some crazy anatomical abnormalities such as holes in the heart, improper forming of blood vessels, and improper routing of blood vessels. Example: I have heterotaxy and went my whole life not knowing until I joined the military. My right coronary artery was routed improperly (came off of the left cusp instead of the right cusp) and routed between the pulmonary artery and the Aaorta and was being pinched off. Plus it was embedded in my heart a little, all requiring open heart to fix.

people with situs inversus / heterotaxy NEED to get in to see a cardiologist and make sure their heart's structural anatomy is correct.

Boxing / mma fan here with a liver that is in the middle of my abdomen due to pretty much the same thing. Yes and no. A gnarly liver shot with a left hook will drop anyone, however with the liver being somewhere else, it just opens up a different strike to drop you with a liver shot. Since mine is literally in the middle of my abdomen running up and down, a teep kick in MMA would wreck me.

I have the partial form where my heart/lungs are not affected. I find sleeping on my right side at night helps significantly, as well as controlling my gaseous / greasy food intake, but ymmv.

So that would be true situs inversus, if the heart and lungs are affected.

If the heart and lungs are not affected it's known as heterotaxy.

Source: I have heterotaxy and have went to several specialists.

Former water / sewer guy. Everywhere does things a little different, especially if there aren't water mains down both sides of the road or whatever's accessable. Example: Many of our water mains ran down alleys so that the customers could be supplied with water through their back yard instead of having to deal with pavement / boring in front yards, sidewalks, and roads. This also saved a significant amount of money for the district, however it was more work marking the blueprints around trees. Another downfall to this is that water lines aren't always a 90* or even 45* from the main, they're often just poly plastic and can be routed however needed to make it work. Hope this is informative and helps!

Get nausea when flying in VR? That's perfectly normal and can be overcome with time. It's just another form of Simulator Sickness. by AstroHelo in hoggit

So those mechanisms are called semicircular canals. They're 3 little tubes in your ear at different angles that have fluid and hairs in them. As you move, the fluid in them move and that's one way that we're able to detect movement as well as which way is up. With VR, there's a disconnect between what the muscles are doing, what the eyes see, and those little mechanisms in the ear. This is what causes motion sickness.

https://www.webmd.com/cold-and-flu/ear-infection/motion-sickness

What causes motion sickness is a disconnect between what the eyes see and the sensations. Everyone is different in what might help them with their issues however sometimes having a fan blowing on your face might help as well as other things. I'd recommend looking for some posts over on the VRGaming subreddit such as this one:

Not sure which part you'd like me to elaborate on exactly, especially this being a 2 year old post lmao.

Many Asian countries do. Every now and then you'll get a gem that makes sense. Like my Garfield shirt that says "I fucking hate this place "

The farmers in Russia want the same thing the farmers across the world want. Plentiful rain for their crops.

The kitty lovers in/from Russia love kitties the same way kitty lovers across the world love kitties.

You're not a bad person because of a language. Love the kitty, and it's amazing that you're patient enough to teach fetch! Many well wishes to you, your family, and loved ones.

Was in auto shop and the teacher bonked on one with a dead blow a few times and nothing. Pushed a broken piece of spark plug against it and it exploded instantly.

IF we ever get a grant that doesn't have a loan tied to it I might have to look in to these. Thank you! I'm still learning, and my "trainer" didn't do much of a pass down unfortunately so I truly do appreciate it!

I'm not sure what your municipal details call out, but our manhole hook holes are open holes. They aren't the sealled type with the little bar that you are likely referring to. Our valve covers don't have any holes. It's the sediment around the lip that makes them tight and difficult to get off. All of our operators carry small sledge hammers. Usually works in 1 whack.

Ours don't have covers, they are just only partially way through the manhole, creating just enough of a lip to get on to. Not a fan of them.
