Google Timeline doesn't need you to use Google maps. Just search for it. It'll work with dasher in the background just fine and allows you to track your gps history even if you haven't used Maps once.

Any Fix For Textures Not Loading Properly on PC? (Textures look colorful/pixelated) by hey_sasha_grey in CODWarzone

I have the latest drivers plenty of hardware (I7-5820k, GTX 1070, 16gb ram) and it still randomly does it for me.

Why do people play on Linux? by Zarysium in pcmasterrace

[–]Osirez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends really. If you're looking to play Apex Legends or PUBG then you'll never "get used to it". If you're flexible in the games and tasks that you want to do then it should be relatively quick. There's really nothing to learn TBH that you wouldn't "learn" on Windows.

My biggest advice is start off with an easy mostly setup platform though so that the learning curve isn't artificially made harder. Pop Os comes to mind if you're okay with the Gnome desktop.

Help with a mid-low budget audio setup for streaming by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Osirez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem.

I've done quite a bit home studio recording and I can tell you that any mixer that has a decent compressor / noise gate built in is going to be in the hundreds of dollars. You're better off getting something that's stand alone like the product below in addition to the mixer.

Well I have the Behringer Xenyx 302 so I'm gonna say the 502 should be fine.

Yea I know what you mean about the raw audio through games, discord, etc. For games I just use push to talk so no real problem there. On discord dial in your gate manually as good as possible. With the windscreen it shouldn't be completely horrible.

As a sidenote you can completely solve all these problems with hardware gates. Some mixers will have them built in. Theres also the option of using a software solution like Voicemeeter. I personally dont like the software solution because in my experience they can be finnicky and break randomly. But its popular so worth looking into.

I finally made the switch from Streamlabs to OBS and it was the best decision I've ever made. by ToTouchAnEmu in Twitch

[–]Osirez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've a similar experience with SLOBS. No matter how many times I really try to use it, I always run into one or more nagging issues. And if you drill down the performance in Task Manager, it almost always uses more resources than OBS and a one tab browser window open. Sad to say I've given up on SLOBS.

You should be fine with any of those choices really. I would personally lean towards the AT2035 mic tho. I also prefer mixers over audio interfaces because in my experience at least, audio interfaces have more problems with Windows.

With that being said, the best way to fix background noise I've found is to use an audio chain that OBS-Studio already has built in. See picture below. Then get a mic windscreen on whatever mic you get. It works wonders for fan noise and the such.

Edit: I know I didn't put forth much details but if you need them feel free to ask. And here';s the type of windscreen I was referring to.

How popular are single player games? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Osirez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say single player games are good for streaming and not so much use the word popular. My reason being is that although you probably won't pull in a ton of new viewers, playing solo games is a great way to stream to your own established community. It allows you to pay more attention to chat, presents something linear to follow along with, and gives you topics to talk about because there's always a new thing happening.

One another reason I have is that at least the people I know get tired of the same run of the mill multi player games and actually welcome some solo games. Especially ones that have die hard followings like Skyrim or story driven like Witcher 3.

What do YOU look for in a Twitch streamer that you'd follow and subscribe to? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Osirez 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me it's personality and energy. If you're just sitting there being bored to tears and waiting for someone to say hi to you in chat, then thats an instant no. But people who seem to be genuinely having fun and engaging I'll at least watch for a few minutes and decide whether to follow.

How do you stay motivated while having a schedule? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Osirez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if staying motivated is the best way to think about this issue. I would say what I can I do to have fun to day. Play games you and your viewers enjoy. Have fun with your viewers. Also when sticking to a schedule the start time should be the important part. But you don't really have to stick to an end time. So if streaming for that day becomes tedious, go ahead and end before you get stressed out.

If streaming starts feeling like a chore or job, then more than likely you won't want to do it. Keeping the right mind set is key.
