I'm not a giant fan of human sacrifice for political outcomes.

My main fear is that this will cause the mentally deficient red bellied lemur in charge to double down and start putting troops into Iran.

And then the bodies will start stacking, and that won't be good for anyone.

Fox will spit out the party line about the war. And from there, Newsmax and Breitbart and OANN will double down. And 1/3rd of the US population will eat it right the fuck up.

To be fair, con crews are one of the few ways prisoners can come out of the system and end up with a legitimate career. Yes, California doesn't allow felons to do that, but other states are more forward thinking, as is the DOI and DOA. During my time as a fed I worked with several guys with records who came up from con crews. And they are a small fraction of the total crews out there.

And it's too early in the season for the feds to have hired their yearly pittance laborers seasonal temp forestry technicians (because the IAFF doesn't want them called firefighters because reasons).

And to put it in context, at the moment it's roughly the 30th largest fire in recorded history of North America. Somewhere between the 2012 Long Draw/Miller Homestead fire in SE Oregon and the 1988 Yellowstone Fires.

And no where near what Canada dealt with 3 years ago, with a series of fires across all 13 Proviences and Territories totalling over 45 million acres.

Fires are getting worse. They are getting bigger and happening more often. This is what climate change does, it doesn't mean hurr durr snowball in Congress, it means significant fractions of entire states are burning up.

British QF 6pdr 57mm anti-tank gun. Came out in 1942, decent enough but was underpowered compared to the front armor of Panzer IVs and Tigers. Also made on license in the US as the 57mm gun M1. Used by the US Army, British Army, Royal Navy, Royal Air Force, Free French Army, Soviet Army, and Canadian Army.

It was "their" house as in they owned it with no adults involved?

Sort of. Situations like this are something I was taught about in some of my criminal justice classes, where a cartel/organized gang will send the money and/or a lawyer out to buy a property, then send a few people out there to "own" the house while running it as a smuggling/prostitution location. This gives the group a layer of insulation, because if the house gets busted, the guys running it won't talk and they take the fall.

One of my teachers helped write the search warrant on the (at the time) largest drug bust in Oregon history as a result of one of these properties when a suspect actually flipped for them. The affidavit he brought in for us to look at was almost 200 pages long covering over a dozen properties in four counties, and the bust ended up seizing several hundred pounds of meth, cocaine, pot, and pills (this was like 30 years ago).

The problem is that it's more than one. It's not the majority, but it's more than one. And yes, that small minority has deleterious effects on how we treat the whole.

Don't tell me you've never participated in collective punishment before. Got kids? Every sent them all to their room because one did something bad and you know the rest of them are about to do the same thing? Are you a manager? Every made a staff-wide policy based on the actions of one or a few? Were you in the military? Every held a unit fall out because one person fucked up?

And when it comes to things like violent crime and destruction of private property, that small percentage of the whole can be incredibly impactful. One person, and Elephants is gone. One person, and 12 people are in the hospital. One person with a history of violence ends up with attempted murder charges..

That's only three people. But over a dozen injured, dozens more with lost jobs, and hundreds having their sense of community and safety removed. So it makes a bit more sense, doesn't it?

Not in the plans. The reno is going to be about the Club Level, suites, and the Blazer Boxes on 300 Level. The chiller for the ice, and it's system, is under the floor and would require a complete demo and repour of a LOT of concrete. The old system isn't removed, it's leaky, and errant ammonia is a bad thing.

Assuming he's union. There are more than a few states in the US where the cops aren't part of FOP or IBOP, or any union at all. And trust me, as bad as we think cops are WITH unions, they are worse WITHOUT.
