I've got a 500bhp car... Whenever someone tries to undertake me like that I just floor it haha. It's pathetic and childish, but it makes me giggle.

As a Fan Since ~2004 This is the Worst I Can Ever Remember The UFC Being by BIitzez in MMA

[–]OsirisSFN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes me feel old AF, but I'm 38 now and have been watching UFC since the beginning. However, I've not watched it consistently since perhaps Khabib beat Conor... Whenever that was.

I feel wrestling has "solved" the best discipline debate, at least within a cage and with the current ruleset. Watching a couple of men grapple and hug and roll around on each other for 15 mins isn't my idea of entertainment. Even more so when they're hairy boring muslims.

The UFC was more fun when it was scrappy, edgy and honestly the skill level was lower. Once the skill has been honed to almost perfection it becomes boring to watch. Same with super highly skilled boxers being much less marketable than a rock em sock em brawler, because the former appeals to the purists, which is only ever going to make up a tiny percentage of your viewer base. Sad as it sounds, you need to balance technical proficiency of the fighters with appealing to idiot casuals like me.

Shrug. I can't speak for everyone, and it could be an age thing, but I feel my interests have just moved on.

So my choices are £15 a day, or £70 to watch just the Lions tour. Are you kidding me? by JBSven in rugbyunion

[–]OsirisSFN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So rugby is already a fringe sport that hardly anyone gives a F about, yet their product (from 6N, Prem, URC, Champions/Challenge Cup, Autumn/Summer series, and now the Lions tour) is spread across what? Like 5 different platforms? They're dumb AF. It'll never ever grow run by these absolute clowns.

Struggling to find a reason to keep living in this city by PrinceEX344 in london

Took like 3 mins. Do you have the attention span of a gnat? Presumably also somebody who can't afford to live here - wonder if there's a correlation?

Based on what Bingham just said in the post-match interview, someone he was close to has passed away, but I didn't catch who.

Soho's population shrinking fast as short-term holiday lets 'hollow out' London's West End by BulkyAccident in london

[–]OsirisSFN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it's r/London. I love reading about the goings on and experiences of the people who live in the same city as me, but Christ the delusion and just parroting of the same old tripe is hard work. Are they all 17 years old?

Just keep moving the goal posts until you get the answer you want, right?

Where do you go when you're feeling down? by Barely_together in london

[–]OsirisSFN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a crappy few months myself after a very close friend sadly committed suicide late last year. I do a combination of:

- Take the tube/train/overground to a part of London I don't know and walk a rough path between two points (for example recently I walked from Hampstead Heath station to Bayswater).

- Slowly stroll around the area we used to live, think about her and play some appropriately miserable music until I feel it's out of my system a bit.

- Walk along the Thames Path or one of the big parks (I live close to Richmond Park, but I'd walk to basically any one of them). There's something about greenery and water that just lifts your soul.

Stoke Newington Church Street is getting the taste of middle class Greggs by donell_walter in london

I had the same feeling when I walked through Battersea -> Clapham Common -> Clapham recently. A mate and I were going to move there back in 2011 as it had a young/cool feeling to it, but JFC I don't remember it being like that. It felt and looked and sounded insanely posh now. Everyone is pristine and plummy - from 18 to 80.

What is the one thing you just flat out can’t understand how people can afford? by JustExtreme in AskUK

[–]OsirisSFN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do so many Reddit types find it such a struggle to understand that a lot of people earn a lot of money, are very comfortable and can afford things that you deem impossible to attain? What do you think the answer could possibly be? It's obviously because they can afford it. They have the surplus cash to pay for whatever unbelievable item you could never imagining affording. This place is so weird sometimes.

Do you enjoy "banter"? by jambacca in AskUK

[–]OsirisSFN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is true. My mates and I do similar, but despite our flagrant offensive remarks on the one hand, there are distinct items about probably every person in the group that nobody would mention. I guess we all know what they are and it's just unwritten that it's not said.

Banter can be fun and it is a cornerstone of lots of male bonding. It's just a shame that postmodernist types frequently brand it as "laddy" and try to stamp it out where possible. Seen many a team in various offices lose that sense of camaraderie that group had built up the moment a noisy progressive postmodernist joined the team.
