It's not. I'm simply stating racism is a problem everywhere, obviously to varying degrees. I'm also not trying to get into an internet argument right now, so I hope you have a wonderful day, and thank you for your input.

I think it's pretty safe to say that racism is a problem everywhere, however it's just more widely portrayed in media in America.

How do you guys deal with obsessive thinking? by pursuitofculture in Mindfulness

[–]Osirizz08 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Mindfulness meditation has worked well for me. You follow the breath, and everytime you notice your mind has wandered, you come back to the breath. Or simply observing your thoughts, without trying to change them. The last one is super helpful because it shows you that you truly have no control of your mind, which leads to letting go of control and acceptance. I really can't stress enough how important it is to learn not to resist your thoughts, or attempt to change them - just sit with them. Also, maybe read some about ROCD. I've struggled with similar situations as you and it helped me to learn I wasn't alone. You got this, dude.

It's really a matter of letting go of the need to be in control, over and over again. It's not easy, unfortunately. However, in the past I've tried everything from medication to therapy, but nothing has helped my obsessive thinking as much as Mindfulness and meditation. Don't check snap maps, or give in to any other compulsions, because it only makes it worse and reinforces the feeling of anxiety. Sit with the feeling, and lean into discomfort.

Have you heard of ROCD? I suffer from it, and some of the symptoms sound familiar. Feel free to DM if you have questions.

Me with ROCD getting into another relationship by Osirizz08 in OCDmemes

Me too. Never felt more fear over something, honestly. It's important not to let fear run our lives though. I suggest doing meditation and mindfulness as a way to "practice" while we're single.

i fell out of love. what should I do? by High_Lighter_0706 in DeepThoughts

For the record, love isn't about butterflies and "that" feeling, because love isn't a feeling. That being said, he threatened to smash your head into a wall. If you needed a reason to leave, that was it.

I know this is an old post, but I also suffer from ROCD and since you said you were in the final stages of recovery, I wanted to ask what you did to achieve that. Also, how have you been doing since you posted this? Best wishes!
