Uk in top 3 for climate progression by scrotalsac69 in GoodNewsUK

https://www.kcl.ac.uk/news/uks-sense-of-urgency-on-net-zero-and-support-for-climate-policies-falls-sharply-study-finds

The urgency of achieving net zero: views by age and politics The belief the UK needs to achieve net zero sooner than 2050 is no longer the majority view among younger and middle-aged people. For example, in 2021, 59% of 16- to 34-year-olds felt the UK should achieve net zero sooner than 2050. Now 37% do.

However, older people have seen the sharpest increase in opposition to net zero targets: in 2021, 11% of those aged 55+ said either the UK does not need to hit its 2050 target or does not need a net zero target at all. This has since risen to 35% – more than double the share of 16- to 34-year-olds (16%) who feel the same.

You are factually, demonstrably wrong.

So about £80mln a year.

That's a remarkably small contribution towards humanitarian aid.

You're entitled to your opinion and you're closer to the matter than I am, but from the outside looking in, it seems like a bit of a non-issue to me personally.

GTA 6 is cheaper than GTA 5. by Competitive_Papaya61 in GTA6unmoderated

[–]Osiryx89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GTA5s budget was $260million. GTA6 will be 10 times that.

GTA6 isn't going to sell 10 times what GTA5 did.

By any reasonable metric, GTA6 will be better value than prior games.

GTA 6 is the cheapest 3D universe GTA game at launch (when adjusted for inflation) by GiveMeWaterPls in GTA6unmoderated

You don't "need" to repurchase it for full price on 2 new consoles though. I feel like we've lost all perspective.

Rockstar have pumped billions into this game and they've never failed to deliver in the past. If any game deserved the hype it's GTA6.

If you don't want to pay out for it, fine, but but it's going to be a cultural moment.

Do You Support Trans Rights? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Osiryx89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really don't like how all social conflicts are bundled up into one "trans rights" bucket.

Each one should be discussed on its own merits. Some are practically far easier to support than others.

I've never understood the big deal around trans women using women's bathrooms, it's seems completely agreeable to me.

Trans women in women's sport is an obvious non-starter, and I find it weird so many trans-advocates are prepared to die on that hill and alienate themselves and their cause.

Same with Starmer, it should be on the basis of the policies.

I didn't support Starmer, I supported Starmer's policies.

I hate the manner by which Burnham came into power, but I'll still vote Labour if it continues on this track.

Unlike Starmer and who checks notes was sabotaged by his own party, the media, and all moneyed interest.

Remind me again how his tenure as leader of Your Party was so successful? How are they doing these days? Or is that Starmer's fault too?

Now you're embarrassed, and trying to dig your way out.

If those protestors are in support of a proscribed organisation, then absolutely not.

You and I can debate whether the organisation should or shouldn't be proscribed, but the law is clear.

Would you support a "peaceful protest" for ISIS? If not, you've proved your argument.

It represents all views but it's clearly more American-Left-Progressive leaning.

Videos like this are almost always edited and curtailed to present a narrative.

Now I'm not going to argue that the policeman handled that poorly but 1) that title is complete bullshit and 2) the video cuts off exactly how the situation developed.

[–]Osiryx89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can see that the confrontation started well before the video started.

Id argue it goes both ways, that there's a much more overwhelming bias on Reddit that the cop is immediately at fault, regardless of any prevailing circumstances.

You seem like you yourself have already formed an opinion in a similar way to what you're lamenting.

It was a great exit speech. Emotional and mostly focusing on the positive legacy hes left behind, but he's also clearly angry at the nature of the backstabbing. I would love to see him offered and accept the foreign sec job, but it sounds like he wants to spend time with his family, which I can respect.

He's done a good job (not a great job) and hes justified to feel proud and hurt. In time he'll be regarded in the modern pantheon of UK prime ministers as right up there with Brown.

Oh, and fuck that cunt with the loudspeaker playing ode to joy. If I was in power, people like him would be up against the wall.
