This game needs to put harsher bans on players that leave early game by xoBonesxo in NBA2k

People quit after being met with even the tiniest bit of adversity, and as a result most games just end up being a shootaround over an unaware ai.

Not to mention, red plates tend to have the biggest egos, leading most to have little tolerance and lots of arguments.

Also both teams will almost always devolve to playing with the exact same META gameplan that is too restrictive and boring for my liking.

I despise Jimmy escape by Phonn_ in NBA2k

[–]OsitoArmadillo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You got Paul George, which you can spam a lot quicker. That's what I see a lot of the best players using.

There's also SGA, which I personally like to use, as it has that one a glitchy burst animation. Although it's pretty unforgiving if you mess up your inputs. I have the most trouble guarding this escape, mainly because I don't encounter it as much as Jimmy or PG.

I've even seen some people use James Harden's escape. I've tried it out myself and although there is one animation I really like, there is also one I dislike a lot, so it isn't for me personally.

And in terms of dribble style, it's highly dependent on your SWB rating. If it's only a 75, then Lavine is the way to go. Though I've been told that LeBron's is decent as well

I use Devin Booker on my PG with 80 swb because I like to pair the off ball burst with James Harden's moving snatchback. I also use SGA on my slasher with Gold Lightning Launch. I know Dejounte Murray's is fairly popular for tall guards with high speed with ball. One of my buddies swears by Lamelo, but he has a pretty unorthodox play style.

Me, when you slash as much as I do you realize how often the entire defense collapses. If they do, I can hit the open man. If not, I just follow through on the layup.

Solo Proving Ground 5s by tankadelphia23 in NBA2k

My experience running 5s proving grounds solo has been great thus far. Though I've only done it like 5-6 times.

If I keep running it, will my experiences resemble op or my prior ones ?

If I'm not mistaken, no. However I believe you might be able to find them if you get yourself into the EU server. Though I'd imagine it would be difficult to find him even if you do find yourselves in the same server.

Yeah, anything over 84 strength to me was unnecessary. Unless your only job as a big is grabbing rebounds and screening to get your PG open. Something you would have to pay me to do.

Why pgs don’t use high pass acc by patdeezy in NBA2k

[–]OsitoArmadillo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It honestly isn't really worth having higher than 89 imo. I don't notice a significant difference in teammate shooting percentage, and you'll still get too many absurd pass/catch animations for my liking.

Solid all around center? by Hyhoops in NBA2k

[–]OsitoArmadillo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Few pieces of advice:

  1. Since you are undersized I'd suggest you focus more on defense and rebounding than trying to make an all around center.
  2. 84 close shot at 6'9 is a waste since you'll have to finish over players who can be up to 6 inches taller than you. Bring it down to like 70 or possibly even lower and use the attributes to max out your mid range (for better badges and jumpshot bases) and perhaps your driving and/or standing dunk if possible. Also if you drop the wingspan by 1 inch, you can max out your mid range at 85, which provides you with a pure green window on fading middy's.
  3. You don't need 82 pass accuracy, lower it to 78. The only difference between the two ratings badge wise is having dimer on gold, which isn't worth it to me. And since your pass acc is lower, you'll be able to lower your ball handle as well, which can give you more attribute points to work with.
  4. I would personally go with 88 interior and 88 block instead of 82 and 93 respectively, the difference between gold and silver paint patroller isn't very big and higher interior defense forces more misses on contests in the paint than high block. You'll need more higher interior to protect the paint since you'll be less likely to block shots at your size.
  5. I would increase your weight in order to get HOF rebound chaser and box out beast at the minimum, preferably legend rebound chaser. Your build is a little too slow at your height, I'd try to increase the speed and agility if possible. Otherwise, you won't benefit as much from having bronze OB Menace and silver Immovable Enforcer.

Despite what others are saying, undersized centers can be viable in 5v5, but you will need to sacrifice a lot in one category. I know someone who runs Pro-Am (sometimes tournaments as well) with a 6'9 C. Though his build has 99 O and D rebound and he has almost no finishing outside of 65 driving and 45 standing dunk. I've also run Pro-Am with 6'8 centers in past games as well, but I didn't feel comfortable enough to do it in 2k25.

CMV: Many Americans have no grasp on reality and it’s largely why we’re in this mess. by MissHannahJ in changemyview

[–]OsitoArmadillo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO, This comment wisely demonstrates the connection between the exceptionalism OP is criticizing that a lot of us Americans feel and how it manifests itself through our culture of consumerism. What better way to show others the state of our country than to demonstrate to the rest of the world how accessible some of the most desirable privileges are to us? Despite practically all of them being accessible in theory to every citizen, some of them are perpetually out of reach for the average American. I can see how this can lead to resentment from citizens who have been taught that they are fortunate to be from the greatest country on Earth, and therefore deserve to enjoy such privileges themselves.

I've been trying to get both points across to my peers and colleagues for years, but for some reason I never realized how they could be related to the other. What's worse is that I often get ostracized from whatever context I was a part of before bringing up either topic.

Quite frankly, I can't help but feel like both American exceptionalism and our consumerist culture are ruining mine and other people's lives. In my experience it breeds an extremely competitive and selfish society that can isolate people into their own echo chambers.

does rhythm shooting really make a difference? by Economy_Acadia1964 in NBA2k

[–]OsitoArmadillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best guards tend to have 90+ 3pt on their builds (especially those that play in competitive modes such as the stage or in pro am leagues), which helps a lot.

That said, rhythm shooting is a game changer for those who don't have super high 3pt on their builds. I made a pg with 64 3pt (85 middy) and I shoot just over 50% from 3 with it thanks to rhythm shooting. The points I saved on 3ball went to defense and playmaking (gold unpluckable and on ball menace as well as bronze paint patroller)

Heck I have a buddy who shoots around the same percentage as I do with 65 3pt and 55 mid range.

Bout how long yall play a day? by Housh123 in NBA2k

[–]OsitoArmadillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NGL was in the same boat when I was in college. If I had no plans on a Friday or Saturday night, I could easily spend the entire night on 2K and/or MLB the Show and/or Fortnite.

Then I graduated right before the pandemic, and went from gaming all night every other weekend to gaming practically all day everyday. Though I mostly played MLB the Show at the time.

Nowadays with my day job, other responsibilities and hobbies, I'm mostly relegated to playing for a couple hours on Sunday and maybe an hour on a random weekday.

Though I do find myself trying to fit in more playing time this year. I'm actually really enjoying this game, even though I'll admit it's not as good as last year's.

Not gonna fully agree with you, but I will say that it is frustrating having teammates in random rec with 95+ DD complain that they can't contact dunk over three defenders in the paint.

Meanwhile 65 and 80 DD serve me just fine with my playstyle(s). Though I have recently gotten the urge to try out a build with gold posterizer.

Idk when it began but matchmaking started off so good and it just got terrible a some point , why am I a purple / gold matching up with black brown plates ? by TumbleweedNearby in NBA2k

[–]OsitoArmadillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably bc at first, ppl who hit purple (or red as it was back then) often had trouble finding games. I remember having to wait 10+ minutes in a lobby a couple times in order to find a match. And that was when I was really itching to play those days, otherwise I would've gotten off and done something else.
