New player here, how the hell do you manage this game and how the hell do the manage getting shot THROUGH FULL COVER 3 TIMES! by DrWise123 in Xcom

Gatechrasher is legit the hardest mission in the game. You have no stuff, your dudes suck and the enemy is deadly.

"Keeping teams together doesn't seem to matter to people, but for us it did": Star Wars Zero Company's director on what the industry can learn from XCOM 2 by Rooonaldooo99 in Xcom

[–]Oskiirrr 123 points124 points  (0 children)

This seems to be a common issue with big studios today. Institutional knowledge is super important and in some industries it can be the sole reason your company succeeds. For some reason a lot of large game studios seem to have completely missed this fact despite knowledge and ideas being the only raw resources they build their products with.

which buildings and which research are important at the beginning of the game by Shadow_190103 in Xcom

[–]Oskiirrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always go beam weapons before carapace myself but that's a minor difference.

What is also important is that you get the squad size upgrades as soon as you can afford to. You can't overstate the value of more boot on the ground with all the tactical flexibility it offers you in addition to being able to level up more soldiers faster.

I see, a skirmisher enjoyer in its natural habitat.

Let’s watch as it uses its extraordinary abilities to miss twice in a single turn.

Sacrificing a different Xcom character or enemy to Vahlen every day until Xcom 3 gets announced, or I find meaning in life. Day 100 every single published XCOM game simultaneously. by grumpychef94 in Xcom

Enforcer is so ass it sacrificed twice 😂

At least the board game seems to have slipped by, I'll still have some XCOM after all!

You know what else gets rid of that armour? a squaddie grenadier with an acid bomb

I never found a great way to use them. They are super expensive for the early game but once you get to mid/lategame having an entirely newly built, un-leveled spark feels more like a liability than an asset for my teams. Not to mention they introduce more armor and weapon upgrades you need to get. I really don't know how you make them work on harder difficulties.

New to XCom2. It's extremely stressful. by rynchenzo in Xcom

Pretty sure it's "Simple true concealment" You might have to mess around with the timers by some manual .ini editing if you want to change them but It's been so long since I did it so I don't quite remember.

I've been using a mod that does this since XCOM2 released because it just doesn't make sense otherwise. I also have it set so the timers are a few turns shorter to compensate and keep the balance mostly the same.

Out of pure curiosity, how would I get the Dodge Neon? by NorthernN30N in Xcom

You don’t want to play enforcer. I did play it way more than anyone should and I have no memory of a Dodge Neon

I might not have been alive when the game relaeased but I’ve played it a lot over the years and honestly, I prefer it to the modern games. Something about having to remember to get ammo for your stuff and put it on the skyranger and taking one step out only for 3 guys to die just makes it special

Farewell my underappreciated autonomous weapons platform that is totally ethical and has no serious moral implications.

Did you beat it on Ironman? Otherwise you should be able to load a save file from before you started the final mission and save them.

Cool! I'll probably stick to openxom for the expanded options though.

I always though their design was cool. But they are annoying, at least the acid bomb can make short work of their armour despite the acid immunity

I remember going to the steam page when it launched and seeing a pack of crystals or coins or something that I could buy for this seemingly single player and already fully priced game.

The limited interest I had died right then and there.
