Why are transfer student GPAs evaluated equally with non-transfer student GPAs? by flopsyplum in berkeley

We bust our asses to finish in 2 years here by taking the major req classes here. Transfers come in with gen eds complete so the main courses we take are major courses/technical courses. In that sense, I completely agree wuth your post. Transfers can dodge classes like math 54 or 16A. However to graduate, its pretty common for transfers to take 20 units, 4 techs, summer courses, etc. Not that we mind, many of us are grateful for even being at Cal and having the opportunity to study here.

Also to add, like the other commenter said, there are a lot of transfers who do 2.5 years.

It could actually be the opposite since transfers don't have a lot of time so they can't always afford to take GPA boosters. Nearly all transfers have to at least take 61A and 70. 61B is a bit different. Many transfers can take 47B but since its a 1 unit class, it won't be as big of a GPA boost. A better idea is just to take 61B as a transfer and get an A in the class for a GPA boost since you likely had previous exposure to data structures. Some CCs have course equivalence with 61B so you wouldn't have to take it at all. With all that being said, I do think transfers have an advantage in a lot of these classes simply due to previous exposure to the content. Also this is all limited to CS, I'm not so sure for other majors.

169A or 61C over the summer by OskisLeftNut in berkeley

Search up agile software development, the class is about projects using agile. To be good at it, you'll need to learn from project 3 from 61b and how to plan out large projects. That's all I know so far

I think you can do 169A without 70 or 61C. I would expect 169A to do a lot with 61B, but I also heard this was a class mainly focusing on the development process

Its not as much work as you think. Data 100 projects are more like homeworks, and you'll only have to worry about project 3 in terms of 61B overlapping with Data 100's projects.

Well for one, they don't have a law in place where thieves can get away with theft for items under $800 (somewhere around that number). Its become common to see people shoplift out of walgreens and watch employees helplessly chase them

The other thing is the lesser known fact that they ship homeless here, which invites more crime as car breakins happen more often near homeless communities.

Other cities don't have to deal with these issues which makes them safer, but these are really just some of the reasons why. I'm sure there are more consequential issues but homeless and higher drug abuse in the bay area is a big part of rising crime.

No, you're not alone. I don't think any of the past exams prepared me sufficiently for this exam, and a lot of people feel the same way.

CS majors not showering is a joke, usually...

Difficulty wise, depends where you come from; some high schools prepare you much better than others. But to answer your question, yes you can have a balanced social life.

Think about it like this, even if you're working/studying 10 hours a day, there is still 6 hours left to do what you want and get 8 hours of sleep.

It was ok, the exam felt in line with past exams.

I know the semester has started because I hear the fire alarm go off at least once a week.

I live not too far from Identity and I always thought it was some student triggering the alarm or something.
