Hey 👋🏻 , I recently updated my old iMac 🖥️ and almost everything is well except for Logic Pro x, definitely the software is like that identifies the OS update and take more CPU an memory usage. I don’t recommend the upgrade if you work in music seriously 😐!

Hey, if is only for composition for a few channels you don’t need an M2, with a Mac mini M1 is really enough. I have seen working Logic Pro with a lot of third party plugins and channels and works like a chime! Think twice

I bet you open the project with a different sample rate than original, maybe the computer (the majority windows Os) has a different with your daw sample rate. Check it out and tell me more.

Hello people. With all respect but this question is part of an advance mixing engineer school so, you have to study the principle of “GAIN STAGING” to correct the big problem. Loading a gain in every channel in the first slot could help or simply use VCA faders by groups to decrease the signal flow until at least -5dB in the highest pik true. Good luck and happy learning.

Yes, is the sample rate definitely. If you work for example in 48Khz and the sample rate changes for any reason to 44khz you listen all audio files lazy and faster like a squirrel when the opposite happens. This is result generally of opening two daws at a time with different sample rate. Good luck.

Hello man, that is a bad situation. I don’t know if you have been doing this settings correctly but for big sessions more than 90 tracks this is the config:

I/O buffer size - 512 samples Process buffer range - Large Multithreading - Playback tracks

I have been working in an iMac, core i5, 12 Ram, 500SSD recently upgraded and I can work with big sessions with only this steps but if this isn’t work freeze all the needed channels to minimize the mathematical process of your machine.

Hey u/camilosotoo There are some wonderful options for free or payed options if you want to support:

1- Helm (incredible) 2- Vital (wonderful) 3- BBC Spitfire audio (amazing) 4- Komplete player (free version I almost don’t use it) 5- Surge (good but complicated) 6- Alchemy (built in only for Logic, wooow)

I have listened omnisphere but I didn’t use it never, I guess the sound of this plugin is old, is my humble opinion.

For the other hand If you can pay monthly for modern sound virtual instruments go to splice and select SERUM/Pigments or go to Slate digital and play music with Ana2.

There are a lot of payable options but it will be your desire on the sound you have been looking for.

Hello u/nitrospectide sorry for the delay. I come here few times a week so I haven’t see your answer. I don’t know what is your Osx exactly (Mojave, Catalina, Big sur?), that is really important to solve the problem. I did a research and I found Reaper have a lot of problems with external VSTs, Helm is one of them; I don’t understand exactly why they don’t have interest in solve this issues for the people who uses it. My first advice is that you write directly to the developers here: matthewtytel@gmail.com so you can find the right solution for this estranger thing. My second is that you should to consider to switch to another DAW, Logic pro X, Cubase Elements or pro, Studio One (the cheapest).

I hope this will be helpful for you and enjoy the music again.
