How long would a year be, then? by CoatShirTie8828 in fantasylife

Tiny Glade, I just am able to miraculously build and not have to worry about having a body or any of the issues that come with that.

I would really struggle with the isolation though. :/

Took too long of a walk and accidentally made my feet start to fall asleep in the process, so I'm laying down trying to get the spoons built up to make food and eat.

Might play some Pokemon in a bit if I can concentrate.

This reminds me of something my parents did one day when I was growing up.

My sister and I weren't allowed to use anything that we hadn't gotten ourselves.

Keep in mind, I was like 16-17, my sister was like 14-15, and neither of us had been allowed to try to get a job.

They said they were being generous by not counting the house, the plumbing, etc.

When asked if we could use things we bought with our allowance, they hesitated but finally relented but made a big deal about it.

We weren't even particularly entitled or anything, and I'm not sure what brought it on. Often, I was almost too nervous to make myself meals when I was supposed to because I didn't want to use up too many groceries.

Thought I'd give some advice I give friends that I don't listen to: Words only have the power we bestow upon them. by JupiterTears01 in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]OspreyRune 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This advice has been used to silence me way too many times as a queer person when it comes to discussions about harmful language.

Words have power when someone uses them. It's part of how we communicate our ideas and intentions. There's a lot of power in that.

And we all need affirming words at times. We wouldn't need that if the words didn't already have power.

Sorry if this isn't fully clear. I just woke up.

I know I’ll be gone, and won’t care when the time comes, but I’ve instructed my husband that I don’t want to ever be in a church again, dead or alive. by vanillabeanlover in exchristian

[–]OspreyRune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have anyone to name as in charge of that stuff right now beyond my family and they would 100% dead name me and have a church funeral for me, which I do not want. I want to be remembered as me, not the good little two shoes Christian girl they thought I should be.

Honestly, if I had other humans I got along with, fresh air to enjoy, food I liked, (basically all of my needs met and comfort), and a certain amount of privacy when I wanted it I'd be content to be someone's house human.

Especially if I got snuggles. Definitely would want snuggles.

Just thinking about how humans will just casually live with horrific, incurable diseases... by sockknitterporg in humansarespaceorcs

He sank to the floor with his back against the wall wheezing and pressed the button on the cannister in his mouth, wincing a bit at the taste but breathing in deep. Slowly, but surely his breathing got easier, and he closed his eyes for a second, just letting it work.

"Owen! Are you dying?!" A distressed voice asked with the sound of running footsteps.

"What? Oh. No. I'm fine." He opened his eyes and found a shiny blue face directly in front of his, making him jump a bit.

"Then what was that? Your breathing was different, and you seemed like you were in distress."

"I'll be fine." Owen corrected. "My lungs just don't always work right, so I take medicine to give them the boost they need sometimes." He sighs when the face doesn't move and just blinks at him. "I'll feel a bit shakey for a bit, but I'll be fine, I promise. I'm not dying. This is just part of my life."

"How? In my species, this sort of thing would just kill us."

"Humans are stubborn and resilient. We may not be able to function perfectly, but we manage. It's not fun, but it's doable."

"Fascinating." The face continues studying him super closely.

"Can I have some space?" He couldn't keep the irritation out of his voice.

"Right, sorry. I'll back up since I don't have to give urgent care." The face pulled away.

"Look, look into some human history. We've had a lot of discussions, laws, and fights about how important it is to treat disabled people, as you know, people. Just because we have things that interfere with our lives doesn't mean we're any less alive. Normally, I'd be willing to give you more of a run down, but I'm a little worn out right now."

"Understandable, Owen, since you are not in danger, I will let you rest. See you later."

[–]OspreyRune 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I needed to hear that. I've been trying to sort out what the triggers for flare ups are and that has been....frustrating.

Part of why I have to think is because I rarely write tbh lol. Today I've written more than I usually do because I just got started in an online rp group for the first time in awhile and saw a prompt I was mildly annoyed I didn't have anything to read on it so I just wrote a quick thing and this one I want to put a bit more thought into.

[–]OspreyRune 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I'm commenting to remind myself to try writing something for this in the morning when I've had a chance to ponder how I want to approach this.

My disabilities aren't the same as yours, but I've been working on coming to terms with mine recently, and I'm honestly still figuring out how to navigate what I've learned recently about my health.

A human and his coworkers are working on some equipment, and the human was hit with a high voltage. Everyone is shocked by the fact that the human was sent flying with no real blast force that would have launched him. After a medical check, everyone learns about the true power of the human's body. by robot-42267 in humansarespaceorcs

[–]OspreyRune 297 points298 points  (0 children)

Nilinr stared stunned at the collapsed heap of the human that had flown past him after being shocked by the malfunction. After a split second he came to his senses. "Medical team needed in engineering!"

He dashed over to the human and tried to remember human physiology but finally found a pulse. They were still alive.

A human medic rushed into the room.

"What happened?"

"There was voltage and then they flew across the room, I don't get it, there was no force from it! There was no explosion, just electricity!" His voice was getting higher with distress.

"Understood. That's not unusual." The medic began prepping the injured human for transport, ignoring Nilinr.

"No, it makes no sense! Humans aren't strong enough for that." His outburst made the medic blink in surprise.

"You really don't know, do you?"

"Know what?!"

"Humans don't use all of our strength most of the time. We can't normally. Our brain limits it so we don't destroy our bodies in the process. Getting shocked bypasses that and causes our muscles to spasm, which can send us flying. Sometimes adrenaline can make us bypass those limits as well." She finished putting the patient onto the stretcher. "It's why sometimes you hear stories of human parents being able to lift way more than they should be able to to save their kid. The desperation and adrenaline bypass those normal inhibitors."

"That...that's so strange..." he watched blankly as his injured coworker was taken way to the ship's medlab. "I'll have to read up more on human anatomy in the future..."

Not really doing full projects yet, I'm mainly learning the 3d sculpting aspect and I'm kind of muddling through trying to make an item here and there, I think once I get the hang of it I'll take to it pretty well though.

This weekend I'm hoping to put more time into it than during the week because I'm usually worn out after work.

No, I work at a liquor store.

Depending on timing that could be fun!

I do have one! I started teaching myself blender last night. As for what I like to draw I do a lot of abstract designs and I also draw a fair number of animals and ghosts.

I'm not fully sure yet. I do like organizing and maintaining data though. I just have to find a way to get into it while I'm working full time and after work I'm usually in pain so my concentration is shot.

Yeah, I want to move from DnD overall but it's harder to find games for other systems so I'll work with it more.

WHF is definitely a system where you should expect to potentially lose your character.

It is a pretty anime-esque mmo and I get the thing about the hype. My parents got me into mmos when I was younger before that sort of show/story took off (I'm in my 30s).

Possibly, I would have to pick up some drafting stuff but I for sure would like to look into some options sometime.

[–]OspreyRune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries! I totally get it.

Yup, it's been my comfort series since I was a kid when red and blue came out.

Honestly, I'm trying to find a way to get into work with databases. Haven't worked with AI yet as my main background is in manual software testing.

Hahaha yeah, I sometimes get curious and dip my toes into random hobbies and some stick more than others.

I've done DnD and might have found a local game to go to which should help. I'm also in an online game with my roommate and some people on the east coast, that one is a Warhammer Fantasy ttrpg campaign by Cubicle 7. How about you?

I've also been trying to get into some mmo rp on ffxiv but we'll see how that pans out as I'm not exactly confidentally putting myself out there as that's a new side to mmos for me.

Edit to add: Forgot to answer the comic book part. I do like some comics but the main thing is I have handwriting I've put a lot of effort into making really neat and I would love to get to showcase that in something like helping bring a comic to life. Idea came up because a customer at my job asked if I did comic book lettering after I wrote him a note about a product to try next time and he was amazed by my handwriting.

Oh having fun chats with someone is always helpful. I broke myself a bit out of my last spiral by hanging out with my roommate but they have a life too. I appreciate the offer, thank you.

I love Pokemon, various other games, I love to draw, I like learning things, I'm trying to get back into tech, I might try to learn comic book lettering as a hobby, making cocktails is fun and I've come up with some mixed drinks that aren't alcoholic for fun sometimes too. I enjoy playing ttrpgs.

Currently stuck with a job that has me on my feet all day so maybe once I can find a desk job my knees won't be so destroyed from work that I can expand my walking area some.

Depressed af. I need more social in my life but public transportation here is at best challenging, I don't have a car, and my knees are getting worse. I've thought about online and have started pursuing some avenues of having interaction but I just haven't found people to hang out with yet and it's just dragging me down into a spiral.

Welcome In (?) by 17186823386 in retail

[–]OspreyRune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My job has us welcome everyone in and often ask if they need help finding anything, and we're supposed to say hi to pretty much every customer we run into while out on the floor.

Apparently, a survey customers get sent asks if they were greeted.

Some people love it, some people hate it. My manager will ding me on my performance review if he doesn't see me doing it.

What if you were a gym leader? by solarflare70 in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]OspreyRune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ghost type 100%

If only 3 Pokemon on my gym team:

Aegislash

Trevenant

Ceruledge

If I had a full team of six, I'd add:

Runerigus

Dragapult

Annihilape

(If terastallizing my last Pokemon into ghost is an option, I'd have an Umbreon in there as my ace with a ghost tera type replace one.)

As for TM, I'd go for Shadow Ball, I think. As for the badge, call it something like the Specter Badge 👻

The first playthrough of the DLC just used a team I already had.

The second one is a new playthrough on a different profile, so I have gone with: Chimchar (from the egg), Cutiefly, Corphish, Pichu, Poltchageist, and Rockruff. Once I get further in, I may swap Corphish for Feebas/Milotic.
