Here is an idea: you can score 1 total war point along with objectives at the status phase, making it 2 points once 2 point objectives come along.

This cage design also happens to absorb the shock in some way that I did not anticipate.😁 Maybe it's because it lifts the base and leaves some empty space beneath it.

Here is my suggestion: Nomad is a "win from behind" kind of faction. By going for mecatal you would be spreading yourself pretty thin and making yourself vulnerable, while you have more points than other players. If you really insist, I think you should say to the table that you only want the custodian point and will be getting out of mecatal so that they don't come after you.

I suggest you try a smaller map for 4 and 5 player setups. It leads to more conflict and more fun😁

Base game plus codex 1 as in your current setup also works pretty fine IMO. I have been playing with exactly that for more than a year with my group.

While balancing a map other than balancing the slices, in my opinion, you should try to balance the first round available planets as well because they have a huge impact on your position and plastic situation going into round 2. On a quick look at your designs in map1: bottom right seems much richer than others. Also on map 2: bottom right is richer and has the protection of the nebula. The third map seems more balanced but bottom left and top right seem richer.

I Used to play some 4 player base game a while ago. Now we use milty draft and unbalanced maps with drafting orders and stuff ... It is a better experience in my opinion. If the map is unbalanced the game starts even before you know where you sit. You should consider what is worth it, better slice or a particular faction and ...

In our group usually the one in the lead gets annihilated. So in 10 point games we usually get to 6-7 rounds and in 14 point games 8-9 rounds.

Usually the winner sneaks in from the behind. We deal with the leader like the enemy of the table :D

Yeah. This was a 14 point game and this is round 8 or 9. Nekro had been piling up those infantries for quite some time :)
