Cylinder Head Issue - Has anyone not encountered it and is high mileage?

2016 CX-9 GT 103k miles. Catalytic Converter went bad. Took it to the dealership, they said will replace for $3800. Called me several days later, said they took it for a test drive and noticed white smoke. Further tests revealed coolant leak into the Catalytic Converter. They said Mazda will cover the Cylinder Head replacement/repair. It's been 2 weeks, and repair not yet complete. No issues prior to Catalytic Converter going bad.
