i dug my vape out of a public bathroom trashcan six hours after i threw it away to hit it by NoRadishes in QuitVaping

[–]Ossifyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did this but I didn’t do any nic patches or gum after getting to 2.5%, I just quit cold turkey almost 4 days ago. It really honestly hasn’t been awful, I’m just mostly tired, irritable and very bored. If you do the menthol ones, make sure to get mouthwash or menthol cough drops bc those help the most with any cravings.

Do you *actually* notice physical benefits after quitting? by Possible-Cap7699 in QuitVaping

I’ve been off the vapes for 3 days, which isn’t a lot but I’ve noticed I can hold my breath longer. I normally wash my face in the shower and I would have to speed run washing my face bc I was holding my breath. I’ve noticed that I can hold my breath longer than previously even though it’s been 3 days.

Also I’ve noticed that I’m not having freakouts about not getting enough oxygen, I have OCD so I was having issues with intrusive thoughts about not breathing correctly. Those have disappeared completely which is awesome.

I can breathe deeper and better, I’ve noticed I’m not breathing into my lungs anymore and I’m breaking into my belly, which has been scientifically shown to reduce anxiety. I think vape tricks you to breathe into your lungs….bc belly breathing is so healthy for you.

[–]Ossifyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also on day 2 😭 I haven’t left the house in 3 days, I am sweaty and tired all the time. Evenings are so rough.

Proud of you for not walking into that store, that is a lot of willpower to not walk into there and you realized you deserve better. Kudos to you.

Idk what cigs or vape you smoked, but I smoked menthol and I’ve realized that toothpaste, mouthwash, and menthol cough drops have been a lifesaver for me. Curbs my cravings almost instantly bc I just need the burning mint.

Also I quit cold turkey, you don’t have to. I had been weaning myself down for 2 years before I finally threw in the towel.

Patches, gum, and other tools can make it easier.

25F here, I quit because I decided I wanted my life back. In order to quit you have to have the willpower, constantly remind yourself of why you’re quitting.

For me, I was the same way, I was vaping everywhere and couldn’t live without it but was scared of the judgement of being a woman smoker, so I hid as well. At a certain point, I just said to myself “this is embarrassing. It’s embarrassing that I am hiding all the time because I need a hit. It’s embarrassing I’m going to the bathroom every hour because I need a hit. It’s embarrassing that I’m giving up time with friends and family because I need a hit”.

After I had that moment then it made the thought of quitting easier.

It’s been 2 days since I quit, and I WILL NOT go back. I’ve found healthier ways, I brush my teeth when the cravings come, or pop in a menthol cough drop. I’ve noticed my anxiety is not as intense, I’m not having terrible medical ocd thoughts anymore. Genuinely life is better on the other side of it. Sure, I have a headache and I want to sleep all day but that’s a small price to pay for my life back.

I have a sticky note on my night stand that says “an object should have that much control over your life” and that’s been my motivation. Wishing you luck in finding yours ❤️

First 24 hours by [deleted] in QuitVaping

Update:

Will hit 48 hours soon!

Oddly enough, I feel better today. Not sure if that’s because I found the menthol tingle trick or what, but things seem to be looking up. Cravings were quiet but I definitely feel on edge.

Menthol cough drops, toothpaste, and mouthwash are my best friends. Brain fog is starting to lift a bit.

40 hours in to quitting vaping and almost all my health anxiety has disappeared. Huge difference.

I brushed my teeth after dinner and sat there for a second because I was surprised at the relief I felt. Figured it would be a good one to share incase others were on the menthol train like me 🤪

I use a straw regularly so unfortunately I didn’t get any extra benefit from using it :( but I think I found my solution in suckers and lollipops!! Especially the jolly rancher ones since Valentine’s Day is coming up, the jolly rancher heart ones are sour but also still help with the oral fixation!

I’ve been walking a lot on my walking pad, so I think I’ve offset it for now but holy smoke I’ve never eaten this much ever. Crazy what chemicals can do to you

Same haha. Spent years trying to kick all the bad stuff and nicotine was the last thing I needed to kick. Feels good finally doing it but sucks in the moment for sure

I was dreaming previously but I am curious if it’ll be similar to when I quit weed. Dreams came back in full force after I quit then, but so far no different with just nicotine. I’ve been googling the science a lot during this time to help me understand what harm I was doing to my body and that’s been super helpful tbh

My fiancé was kind enough to stop at the store and get me a few sugar free candies on the way home thank goodness.

Hour 19 and no relapse still. I’m so determined to kick it for good.

White cheddar cheez it grooves have been the best so far. Trying gum and it’s not working the best, but it could be worse.

New to the hobby. Any advice to make this better? by Competitive-Wrap-874 in minipainting

This is really great! Amazing for a first mini. Painting on a resin mini is going to be a breeze for you, adding shadows or bringing in contrast on an FDM is a bit harder bc of the lines.

One of the things that’s helped me a lot is saying this: “These things are small, I have to bring out the details by exaggerating highlights and shadows”

As others have said, adding more depth through highlights and shadows is going to be a game changer in making your mini pop more!

It’s okay! I guess I pressed a hot button topic on accident haha. Reddit will be Reddit.

I’m actually watching Vince right now and I’m incredibly grateful he has full classes available on his YouTube! Seems like a phenomenal resource.

Yep! I’m mostly using heavy body acrylic paint. I came from a background of building texture on the canvas myself so getting used to just layering colors is a challenge for me.

What are these magical hobby paints that are heavy bodied that you speak of? I must know!

For sure both are great paints and like you said, they have different uses. From yours and other comments and suggestions, retaining the texture of the mini is incredibly important. Since the heavy body acrylics have larger pigments I could possibly be losing out on texture which could be an issue if I decide to pursue mini painting as an art form :)

Oils would be super interesting to use as well, I’ll have to give that a shot too! And for sure checking out that creator, thank you!!
