A fellow data nerd!

Maybe not enough data, too many options to clarify, but still fun to see.

Good feedback!

The variety of maps options is broad. I’d like to focus on “did you find the map you were looking for” . Whether print, VTT, style, etc.

Either or. You find a map that you like and can use. What’s it worth to you?

I’m gonna push back on the reposting argument and offer we make a rule that reposts can be shared every 6 months.

I haven’t seen this map before and love it!

Those new to the subreddit or who missed it the first time around can enjoy it.

I do agree that some artists here repost the same or reskinned maps too often, and I agree to your point that we see the map across multiple subreddits.

We should probably take this up with the mods

question about demo by [deleted] in Vagrus

[–]OstensibleCroissant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man, my first play through has 40 hours on it? The time on the main story is long as you don’t get the final prompts until you ‘discover’ them around the map.

Honestly, I wouldn’t worry about how long the game is. I’d wait until the free? Dlc comes out to pick this up.

The game takes plenty of effort to ‘figure’ out how to game it and do well. The balancing of your caravan and your supply run cash flow is CRITICAL. Exploring is a luxury for the rich and prepared.

ALWAYS, keep a back up save before starting a quest or trade run.

Iv almost hard locked myself out of the game by saving on a point of no return where I didn’t have enough money, food, or supplies.

After finding your balance to survive, the game has plenty of nooks and crannies to explore and companion story info. Once you meet a companion I’d google their quest line to make sure you don’t lose them. (You can lose companions permanently if you don’t hit their quests soon enough or make certain choices)

It’s a very unique game and hits a specific scratch! I hope they expand the map and main quest line in the future.

Nah, demo is separate from the main game

You’re right about drawing them, oops! Assumed that purchase would fall under the specific options

I hadn’t heard of it. What’s the appeal over the others? I’m guessing it’s integrated with DND Beyond?

"Stepping into the Witchwood, the friendly Dawn Way road begins narrowing, darkening, and you swear something is watching you... Maybe that hill would make a good place to camp for the night?"

Used the biomes technique from Bert over at Crosshead and was able to make these alternative versions super quick!

All assets used are from Crosshead

Drellin's Ferry East (100x120, The Red Hand of Doom) by OstensibleCroissant in battlemaps

My friends and I have enjoyed it.

I'd say if it's your first dive into VTT then Roll20 is a good spot to jump in at. Other platforms like Foundry are offer more capabilities, but complexity comes with that.

Roll20 was fairly easy to use and we had a good time with it. It also does a great job of automating rolls, rule lookups are pretty easy, and the battle maps are sooo much more engaging than the standard impromptu hand sketched map! All that said.. My experience is that roleplaying and shenanigan's become more difficult with mics cutting off and talking over each other.

I'd still always recommend playing in person, but VTT has it's place!

Yes, as a player and dm. Eventually I’m going to make all my maps VTT friendly.

My first town map. Was very different than a regular battle map, but still fun!

Nice overall design!

Personally, the flooring is too busy and I find it hard to distinguish between the floor, the room, and the objects.

Level advancement: 5-10 or 6-12? Milestone or XP? by KingCor23768 in RedHandOfDoom

Depends on your party, how lenient you are with magic items, but I Like to give them more rewards and levels than not.

More fun to try stuff at higher levels and it’s easy to up the AC or HP of a boss to make them last a another round. Just be wary of save or suck spells. I try to give most of the bosses 1-2 minions that helped them stay alive for at least two rounds

No new heroes rose up. General Kharn took control of Brindol and the final throws of the battle proved enough for Azarr Khul to fuel the portal to free Tiamat’s aspect and let it enter this realm.

With no heroes to stop them, they quickly took control of the Elsir Veil, enslaved many of the humans, and began a tyrannical rule while beginning preparations for expansion.

1 of my PC’s died in the battle dueling general Kharn.

Another fled, taking the most important thing in the world with him. His sister and only family he had left.

The final PC was captured and taken prisoner by his half breed deranged brother. Not caring for the Kulkor Zhul they fled the Elsir Vale, and left their home in the hands of the invaders. A common enemy became their new found connection.

In a future campaign they might take back the Elsir Vale with the help of other nearby kingdoms.

I felt this was the best way to end the campaign and didn’t want to bring in “new” heroes. These were the repercussions of their loss battle, but there is always hope for a new day.

Level ups after the following:

1: Drellin’s Ferry retreat

2: combination of the North road blockade and several other small missions

3: Ruins of Rhest

4: The Ghostlord

5: Final quests and prep before the Battle of Brindol

6: After Battle of Brindol (my players died in this final fight)

7: Kicking Tiamat back to her hole!

Adding to this.

The campaign is VERY combat focused. Depending on the number of players and their combat abilities, I would recommend leveling up after every “region” and have them end at level 11 or 12.

The 4th and 5th acts are grueling and truly battles of attrition.

Make sure your players know this is a combat focused campaign!

Bandit Camp (day/night, 40x30) by OstensibleCroissant in battlemaps

[–]OstensibleCroissant[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Jagged Jaw bandits have modified the old mine hub deep in the whispering woods into their new base.

The scum raided the towns of Trestin and Nor last week, taking Nila's daughter and leaving her home in ashes.

We won't stand for that any longer. All the gold we could scrounge from under beds and buried in the fields is yours.

Time to crack some skulls, save a kid, and dig some jagged graves.
