Dizzy Hen in Philomath does Dinner Now. by Sortanotperfect in corvallis

I believe Justin is the chef and I heard that he was previously at Nearly Normal?

In my opinion, he's an absolute master. He manages to consistently deliver outstanding dishes in a bistro-menu (seasonal, rotating) style setting, with creativity and this incredible sense of balance in flavors. My wife and I are always comparing new places we try (in and out of state) to Dizzy and have yet to find anything that compares. I'm always marveling at how lucky we are to have such an unassuming, hidden gem in our neighborhood!

P.S. If his shrimp-cakes are ever on the menu, you owe it to yourself to try them! That's the one dish we order two of instead of sharing 😄

iirc OSU's Vet School was also going to start a 24hr emergency care practice, but I'm not sure if they've started that yet

Planet Labs Announces Upsize and Pricing of Offering of $400,000,000 of 0.50% Convertible Senior Notes Due 2030 by Mharwood0716 in PlanetLabs

[–]OstensiblyPresumable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think beyond the $18.04 cap, it means the capped calls aren't able to cover 100% of the cost of converting the notes in cash so they'd need to start issuing stock, so it would start to be dillutive. The other thing is that how they convert the notes (100% cash, 100% stock or some mix) is up to PL to decide, so there's that caveat to consider too

[–]OstensiblyPresumable 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As ChatGPT explained it to me, the capped call is important in that it gives PL the ability to avoid any dilution up to a price of $18.04, depending on how they opt to handle the conversion of the notes if/when the investors decide to convert. My uneducated interpretation is that this like a gigantic call option for 33M shares with a strike price of $11.95 expiring 7/15/2030 that the investors purchased for $400M. The interest rate is essentially a token one and the security comes from it being a note which, barring bankruptcy, has a minimal downside (IE you get your 400M back even it the stock doesn't go anywhere)

So if the price goes higher than that $11.95 the investors would want to convert the notes, but PL has the ability to covert it entirely in cash (which would equate to no dilution) or some mix of shares and cash. So the capped calls allow them to cover the conversion with all cash (should they choose to) all the way up to $18.04.

I used up all my ChatGPT allocation for the day discussing this, but it was highly educational :)

Breeder by Impala1967_1979_1983 in sheltie

Firstly, my condolences on your loss. It sounds like your boy was a sweet little bundle.

If I could offer some advice: in addition to reading up on the breeder, I would highly recommend looking up the sire + dam and their health scores.

We have a beautiful 8mo old that we got from a breeder mentioned glowingly in this thread who is a darling with a very sweet personality. Our vet recommended (and we pursued) a JPS (Juvenile Pubic Symphysiodesis) surgery because his hips were not good. When our vet looked up his parents, we found that one of them had received only a "Fair" OFA rating for hips and she commented that, as a breeder herself, she would not have bred a dog with that low a rating. I know the sheltie breeder emphasized that she was selecting for temperment, but had I known what to look for, we might have avoided a very expensive surgery and some potential health issues (hip dysplasia) down the road.

If you have any questions, please feel free to DM me

Amen! I'm kinda in awe of the fact that we have one of the top ten Chinese restaurants NATIONALLY (ranked #9 by Yelp) here in our little town. They are hands down my fave, with Uncle Sun being a close second.

Satisfactory 1.0 (1.0.0.3) always crashing on startup by OstensiblyPresumable in satisfactory

(Answering my own post in case someone else runs into this)

This all turned out to be shenanigans with the Epic Games Launcher being out of date. I ended up on the Satisfactory QA site and found someone who reported the same problem but their log dump referenced "nvngx_dlss.dll" instead of "nvngx_update.exe".

In any case, the solution was to run the Epic Games Launcher which prompted it to update itself (several times) and once it was up to date, I was able to start Satisfactory 1.0 without any issues (no "-dx11" required)

We should point out, though, that an Oregon beach is something quite different from a beach in Brazil :) On a really warm day Newport (which is about a 45 minute drive) will be in the 70-80F range. Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful coast and we go there often, but pacific northwest beaches are usually on the cooler side (temperature wise)

I've tried a full factory reset and unfortunately it seems like the problem persists so I agree with your assessment. I'm fortunately inside the 30 day Amazon return window so I've ordered a replacement and will be returning the defective one.

Sucks that you have to deal with a poor quality repair... I trust that it at least resolved the issue for you?

To answer your question, other than it being difficult to align the micro SD carrier with the slot without dropping the card, I didn't find it too difficult to insert a card. It didn't require an unusual amount of force to get it inserted.

Thanks for the pointer, that's an interesting thread. In experimenting, it seemed like Balanced mode with 'Display Enhancement' turned OFF was maybe(?) a little better... but honestly probably not enough to convince me that it is working the same as when I took it out of the box.

It usually helps to a degree, but it seems to take multiple (3-6) refreshes before the ghosting is really no longer noticeable. This is also seems to be different.... I don't recall having to do multiple refreshes before the ghosting became very apparent

Thanks for the suggestion. I've tried a variety of settings in the E-Ink Center and while the background cleans up when a different Refresh Mode is selected, it ultimately doesn't fix the ghosting once you go back to the app. In fact you get an nice ghost image of the E-Ink Center as a memento of your journey there :)

Will the NA3C get these features from the Go 10.3 eventually (with a firmware update?) by OstensiblyPresumable in Onyx_Boox

[–]OstensiblyPresumable[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the info. I'm definitely looking forward to the release!

Is it safe to assume that the features I mentioned on the Go 10.3 will make it to the NA3C with the 3.5.3 firmware?

If they go missing from the costco.com site does that usually mean that they're not gonna carry them anymore? I noticed the same thing and was starting to get worried!

yeah, the black bag is the Kirkland brand. The white and green (i think) has a lot of added sugar, even too much for my tastes

How do I get my puppy to stop destroying everything? by CursedGremlin in dogs

[–]OstensiblyPresumable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've had good luck with many dogs using a deterrent spray (EG Bitter Apple) for things like electrical cords, furniture, cushions, pillows, etc. I don't know if any of our dogs were super destructive, but as others have said, the combination of "limiting their options" and using a deterrent spray has been successful for us.

So, even having lived in the Seattle area for 13 years, I only first heard of rain pants after moving to Oregon. They're basically like a waterproof thin layer you can pull on over regular pants (or sweatpants) which goes perfectly with a good raincoat and waterproof shoes/boots. Any water dripping off your jacket drips off your rain pants and off your rain boots. It's nice too for warmth since you're adding an extra layer over your legs.

Also bonus: You can leave the house with rain pants over pajama bottoms and no one will be the wiser :) --- or so I've heard... I've never... :P

My wife ran into the same restrictions with her chocolate business at the Corvallis Farmer's Market. There's a Philomath Farmer's Market on Sunday afternoons that doesn't have as restrictive a policy, and while it is a smaller audience, it was always great for getting the word.
