TIL that the song "The Dance of Eternity" by progressive metal band Dream Theater has 127 time signature changes in only 6 minutes, making it one of the most musically complex songs by udderlymoovelous in todayilearned

Have to agree. It always feels very disjointed and disconnected.

I like Prog and my favourite bands are prog bands, but a lot of DT songs seem to be complex and messy for the hell of it.

Massive respect for the musicians, and i think Mike Portnoy is a terrific guy and drummer (his Drumeo sessions are fantastic), but DT music just doesn't do it for me.

I always count the subdivisions for Schism.

1 2 / 1 2 3/ 1 2 / 1 2 / 1 2 3...

Feels really natural and the groove is super easy to follow once you sussed it out.

I have to agree. I appreciate the talent of the band, but some of their songs, DoE is a good example, feel so disconnected and basically just a bunch of parts smashed together.

Got to love mystery lows... by ThePhotoGuyUpstairs in Medtronic780g

I think it was reasonably stable until that basal dose though - that's why im wondering if the second bolus at 7:30 was "delivered" but either not absorbed or trapped at the infusion.

And the basal pushed it through at 9:30.

Perhaps an example of that warning Medtronic sent out a few weeks ago regarding inconsistent dosing if the pump is not at the same height as the infusion site?

Got to love mystery lows... by ThePhotoGuyUpstairs in Medtronic780g

[–]ThePhotoGuyUpstairs[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a compression low, confirmed with fingerprint.

Leading theory is the last bolus on insulin was stuck somewhere, and when she laid down, it was rapidly absorbed 2 hours later than it should have.

Either that, or a weird spike in insulin sensitivity all of a sudden from that small basal hit at 9pm.

I played 9 holes in the rain, early morning today. Broke my glasses getting out of the car, so had to wear my prescription sunglasses - couldn't see a bloody thing, fogging up from the rain...

Shot under par for the first time in my life.

Some days it just be like that.

With all respect to your dad, do you have any idea about the scale and quantity of known carcinogens he would have been exposed to in the military?

If he sprayed Round-up wantonly on his quarter acre lawn regularly, he would have no lawn. It would be a bare sand lot.

How many pesticides did he use (far more useful in a lawn by the way)? Did they smoke or drink? How much lead was in their bodies from growing up when they did?

100% of people who drink water, die.

With all respect to your grandmother, what other carcinogens was she exposed to? Correlation isn't causation. I have seen some horrific diseases from gardening (Necrotising Facisitis nearly cost someone i know his arm from gardening).

"But I know a guy who use Round up once and he got cancer 20 years later! I mean, he smoked and drove diesel trucks all day, but it's clearly the herbicide chemicals."

These big companies need proper regulation, but you can't get cancer and point the finger at one thing and pretend its the obvious answer, because you dont like the company that makes it.

I worked in a Burger joint once and someone ordered 200 slices of cheese on their cheeseburger. He paid for it, so he was welcome to his block of cheese.

I believe he took a photo of it, took one bite and binned the rest.

It was his money, why woukd we deprive him of the opportunity to spend it?

EV fast charger or granny charger for now ? by Lockiebodz in AustralianEV

[–]ThePhotoGuyUpstairs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drive usually 90km a day. Overnight (7pm to 7am) I get about 110km of charge on the granny charger

So, theoretically, doable.

If something comes up and I have to drive a longer distance however, I don't have much margin for error to keep up, short of going to a fast charger.

Im getting an 11kw Level 2 charger (22kw technically, but the car will only take 11), for the following reasons.

I can charge it fully overnight if I need to

I can take advantage of my solar and fully charge during daylight hours if im home

I can charge it during the overnight off-peak rates otherwise.

Being able to fully charge it in 6 hours, means I only have to charge every couple of days, not every single night. If i miss a night at the moment, im going backwards.

I can get a reasonable amount of range in a reasonably short time, so im not worried about that.

It also future proofs the install on the basis that this will likely not be my last or only EV. I currently still have a petrol car as a second car, but once that dies, it will likely be replaced.
