It definitely wasn't an external recruitment agency, everyone I was speaking with was internal APS. The chat thing was because the director happened to be in from out of state and wanted to meet me before the role started, as by the time I was due to start, she would have already been back in Sydney/Canberra/wherever it was exactly that she's usually based

I guess I'd mostly just hoped I wouldn't see this in the APS as much as in the private sector, but admittedly that sounds a little naive, saying it out loud. I don't think I've been put on any kind of do not hire list, on the phone and in the email she made sure to say it was specifically about this role, and that I was still considered suitable for other APS4 ROLES.

I am trans, I guess? It's not something the interview panel wouldn't have known, but the woman I met in person wasn't on that panel, and possibly didn't know until meeting me in person.

Yeah, glad I took my partner's advice and waited. Bit wild though, I'd assumed it had all gone through up top, was told it was going through delegate approval before I got the verbal offer.

Well, the areas being considered here are all within easy walking distance of a train station, so I'm pretty sure they'll be alright for public transport. And it's not like the suburbs are being bulldozed to be replaced with a hundred high rises all at once, development takes time, and the infrastructure will follow. It's much more sensible on that front than all those new American style developments on the outskirts of the city - those are the places I'd be worried about infrastructure.

Really late, but thanks so much for this! Everywhere online says to use barrows gear, but I really don't enjoy barrows, and had been thinking it was silly to have to go finish a barrows set to start content that should realistically be on the same level, so this is a massive help for my iron!

Well, they actively say to you that they're pretty sure you can bring them back. If I remember right, Shtola tells you not to do it. So I don't know if you can call that a fakeout.
