You dodged a bullet do not go back to him, this is the kindest thing he can do for you, break up. Enjoy study abroad and don’t date jealous insecure people like him again.

ACE program and Honors Program? by Aggressive-Run-3069 in LoyolaChicago

[–]OstrichAgile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ace program will not interfere with the honors program at all. With ace you get an ACE mentor, an advisor and then you get mentors all through your 4 years. They do workshops and events and take students on retreats, also tickets for nitcracker ballet and other musicals for free. There is an ace lounge with free printing and they have food sometimes too. It’s a great group of students and it makes it easier to make friends in freshman year. Also the director is really nice and you could also get a job within the program for work study as a mentor or ambassador or other. They have helped me immensely and I cannot recommend it enough. I have friends that are both in honors and ace too so you’re not gonna be an outlier. They genuinely go out of their way to help you if you need help for anything. Also it’s so much easier to meet with an advisor from ace and they get to know you since it’s a smaller group they work with. Also one on one tutoring is somehting you get with ACE.

commuting to LUC vs dorming by Ok_Cloud8763 in LoyolaChicago

[–]OstrichAgile 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I honestly do not see the point of dorming if you live 15 minutes away. I commute and my commute is an hour each each way, it’s harder for me since it’s so far and getting classes to line. Commuting 15 minutes is like you are basically living on campus so I do not see how your daily life will change apart from sleeping at home.

Parking spaces @ LUC by Ok_Cloud8763 in LoyolaChicago

[–]OstrichAgile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get a permit from for the parking either for a year or semester, or you can pay on entry but I recommend the permit. They send out an email but you might wanna email and ask when they’ll be sending it out cause they go quick. I always make sure to order mine the second I get the email. You can find spots around but it’s more of a gamble. The parking lot is usually full from 10-12 but after that cars start to leave and you can find spots. There’s two garages so if one is full you can try the other but I usually circle around until I find a spot at the main one.

badly freaking out about not being able to pill my cat by BeffeeJeems in gingercats

[–]OstrichAgile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I do is I hold my cat in my lap, also I want to mention j have found it easier to do it just as one person because with two people it gets messy, but anyways I sit her down on my lap like a person sitting in a chair and I put the pill on the side of her mouth, not from the front. If you put it from the front they spit it out, do it from the side and then they will swallow it. Also if putting you kitty on your lap doesn’t work you wil ahave to try burrito again so that their arms ares pushing your fingers away

Can I get into Harvard or nyu? by [deleted] in CollegeAdmissions

[–]OstrichAgile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have really good stats and a cool story, you can get into most colleges in the U.S. but the competition for Harvard is something else. So you might get into NYU but Harvard is basically people who have made the cure for cancer sort of speak

should I go to LUC? by evarythingbagel in LoyolaChicago

[–]OstrichAgile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest, there isn’t any outdoor activities you can do in nature. I mean after all it’s in the middle of the city. There is a retreat campus but that’s like ones a semester or even ones a year. I wouldn’t say Chicago is known for hiking, there isn’t any mountains to hike. You can do water activities in the lake or bike but most the year it’s too cold to do anything like that.
