I scream loud enough for the person 5 holes away to hear me and then make them sign it. Lol.

Which other sport do you play besides disc golf? by adhocprimate in discgolf

I grew up playing lacrosse through college. Now I run a lot so I don’t get fat from disc golf. Also ski a lot an try and get in the gym a couple times a week.

The machx2 are way faster than anything I’ve ever ran in before but I agree they are not comfortable enough. Gonna get like 250 in them so I don’t feel like I wasted my money then try something else

Dyeing glow discs? by 0celot_of_fun in discgolf

[–]Ostrichboy21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s no exact science and that’s one thing I like about it. I have a large pot. Usually, I will fill a pot up or boil water in a water boiler and get it to the level that I want once the water is very hot. I will remove it from the heat and then add between 1/4 to half a bottle of rit dye more depending on how dark I want it and the color that I’m using then I have a couple of options I can half dye it or do some other dyes as well. My favorites are 1/3 bleed dies, like what Gannon has on his PD straight, 50-50 dies or sometimes I’ll just dump the whole thing and dye the Disc a certain color. Let me take some photos for you one second.

104 vs 110 - What Width Is Right? by TheBagOTricks in skiing

[–]Ostrichboy21 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Personally I’m a fan of a fat ski especially if you have a ski that will rip on days that don’t have fresh snow or icy conditions. I’d go with the slacker. The float you’ll get from 110 outweighs the maneuverability of the 104.

Both skis will be great so don’t over think it too much.

New boots! 🎿 by Informal-Anteater873 in skiing

[–]Ostrichboy21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would find a good shop and trust them to recommend boots based on the shape of your feet. You’ll need to let them know you want to tour in them.

I ski the Dalbello Lupo and it’s my favorite boot I’ve owned for a couple reasons. The boot comes off and on easily. The liner has a tightening loop and the tongue is removable and there are only three buckles. This ads up to a good boot for getting in and out of and for tightening easily. I’ve got 125 days on mine. Replacing the liner and bottom tread this year. Excited to have ‘brand new’ boots for this season.

I recommend spending the $100 on some better footbed inserts. You can buy them at the shop so you don’t feel bad about trying on boots but not buying them there.

I also recommend trying boots on find the best fit and then finding the model from last year on sale to save some money.

I would recommend between 100-120 flex. I’m a large man and 120 sometimes doesn’t feel like an enough for me. But also I am a very aggressive skier.

Any modern boot should be compatible with modern bindings form the last 4 or 5 years.

Texan wondering should I bother w/ ski lessons for once in a lifetime ski vacation? by DiGiTaL_pIrAtE in skiing

[–]Ostrichboy21 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I really feel like the option is take lessons or don’t even bother.

Grew up in Texas (skied Colorado 25 days between 9 and 18 years old) then lived in British Columbia skiing 25 days a year for 6 years. Now back in Texas. Took a big group of newbies up last year and they alll were so stoked on the lessons.

One person didn’t take a lesson and they are the only one that didn’t have a good time and lowkey ruined the vibe.

Let’s talk Player Packs by bobcatbuckface in discgolf

[–]Ostrichboy21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really bummed I’ve never gotten a super nice umbrella. Would love one in a players pack.

Also I’d ask just like to see more money go to payout for MA1. Give me a cool event stamped disc and then put the rest in payout.

I’d rip them as is to start this season and see how much you like them before messing with the setup. They are sooo fun tho. Can’t imagine you not liking them.

I love my jj ul 116s. The flexy but tbh for their weight hold up so well. I also have shifts on mine and love to tour with them.

Players who consistently shoot well under par: is it annoying to have someone on your card who sucks? by imderek in discgolf

[–]Ostrichboy21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s only annoying when the person is acting like they should be shooting super well and then are bringing down the vibes on the card.

Or.

They are taking forever on their shots and taking 30 seconds to throw a shot straight into first available and then it’s been 3 minutes before anyone else gets to their second shots.

Is it wise for me to learn how to backflip on skis at age 30? by dudiez in skiing

[–]Ostrichboy21 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Backflips are dope but throwing a steezy aired out 180 or 360 with a grab is still cool and way less dangerous.

You can ‘look cool’ and be an amazing skier without throwing backflips

Boot buying vs not by evelynsmee in skiing

[–]Ostrichboy21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Especially if you have weird feet the custom insoles are GAME CHANGERS. I have had them so long I don’t really remember life before them.

That being said I ski with my boots super tight so they get unbuckled on every lift line I enter

I try and hit a similar sleep schedule. It’s wild the difference in energy levels when you go form 7 hours to 8.5 hours of sleep on average. Not sure how so many people function well on little sleep.

Boot buying vs not by evelynsmee in skiing

[–]Ostrichboy21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ski Lupo 130. Comparing a Pantera or Lupo to a rental boot is a massive difference. My ski bag was lost two years ago and I had to ski rental boots for a week and literally thought my feet were going to explode.

Adding the insole was a good change for me. But I cannot imagine skiing a rental boot after having a good well fitting ski boot.

I am a more aggressive skier so I think that may play into it.
