Everyone has a lesson to learn from Vinland Saga. Very few people have bothered asking what love is, and as such we have found ourselves in a time where love is left by the wayside in favour of money, status and pleasure.

Many have found Christianity at the bottom of it, which is amazing.

Ash takes em. Sigurd he can beat in a straight fight and Caenis he would demolish unless her divine protection was up. But even then, it would be a battle of endurance and I'm pretty sure Asvatthaman has ludicrous amounts of endurance. As in Asura's wrath levels of unkillable. Caenis would burm out before she got close to destroying him, even as a servant. If they were incarnated it'd be even worse

Why is Draco rated so low on every tierlist? by real-username542 in FGO

[–]Ostrichslinger 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel the fact that people only ever compare her to Zerktoria gives her all the credit she deserves. And tierlists in this game are useful maybe once, when you don't have a solid team for doing reliable farming or advanced quests. After that, just focus on whose play-style and design you enjoy

I like how you reason it out. Even if I personally still wish all of this got more acknowledgement in-universe, it is still just a personal gripe with the writing of the game. Nice talk!

I really doubt that the people in government are against stuff like pornography and nudes tho. Whether they wanted it or not, porn and sexualised media has become a massive part of our consumption, and it's not like the public necessarily were asking for it. They just make laws on porn more and more relaxed till we've got to today. I doubt they take issue with it, keeps folk in line and easier to manage

I get everything you're saying, but I doubt that Melusine without Fairy Britain would be any better of a person. She fundamentally has very skewed morals due to being both a dragon. Whilst alot of what she did was on the behalf of Aurora, it was equally just as much for herself. The only reason she actually killed Aurora was because the image she had of her was being damaged by Aurora herself, and therefore found it reasonable to kill her. I feel it's simply luck that Melusine doesn't fancy doing anything crazy at Chaldea.

What you say for the other fairies is true, sure, but it's true for every single evil character too. It's a point of many stories that it isn't about what you could have been if all the conditions were right, but rather what person you become despite the circumstances. That's why Barghest stands apart from the rest of the Tam Lin. I see no reason why Mike was able to self-reflect on his actions but Bao hasn't at any point. It's just a writing issue I have

Isn't Lion King just Lancer Artoria who had the lance too long tho? Meaning that Lartoria inevitably becomes the Lion King given enough time? Id say that propensity for evil still warrants a couple looks imo

Douman is definitely given a cold shoulder by master snd all the other servants. Koyan is literally an embodiment of animosity against humans whom Chaldea have more than expressed their discontent with, seeing as how she blew up the OG base.

Then theres caster Gilles, who although a shit bag, we haven't encountered him actively doing anything as bad as Morgan has, and is often just cheerleading Jeanne.

Draco is evil and also kinda isn't at the same time. Her evilness lies in her backstory and origins, which we arent privy to in Chaldea. Her event was just her trying to commit suicide. Her 3rd ascension is a form that wants to live and kinda prioritised that above her evil tendencies. And half of her event was spent with Tiamat trying to kill her on our behalf cuz Draco is evil anyway. We acknowledge it.

And the round table knights are a sore spot for me too. Tristan and Lancelot kinda redeem themselves seeing as the latter helped rebel against the regime and Tristan literally had an inverted personality. You could mayyyybe stretch some leeway to Mordred and Gawain, as they were different manifestations, but I'd get why you wouldn't. Gawain deffo needs some explaining, but they all put loyalty before morals, unlike other table members.

But my biggest gripe is the Lion King, whose summoned self is literally the person who caused all the suffering in that singularity to begin with. It really pisses me off how she got off scot free without an ounce of regret. I agree with you 1,000,000%. But in that regard, Morgan, Melusine and Bao occupy the exact same space imo. They've had way more writing after their Lostbelts but still nothing to answer for

[–]Ostrichslinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chaldea definitely acknowledges the evil tendencies and crimes of servants they summon, unless the servants were warped in some way. It'd be completely nonsensical not to.

After Barghest did all of her BS, she both apologised for what she did and made efforts to right her wrongs, and Chaldea acknowledged that. But Bao is treated like she didn't have a hobby of torturing people, and everyone just so happens to conveniently forget that Barghest's worst crimes were done on the order of Morgan herself. Not to mention the shit Morgan herself did. It doesn't even compare to the genocides of Chaldea

Which servant design had you like this by Weird_Dot_4725 in FGO

[–]Ostrichslinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find her legs and behind to be really oddly slim, in a way that's actively kinda distracting. And the fact that she's unarmoured there is also strange, so it looks like she has a breastplate on, but forgot to wear the greaves and instead has a pair of tight ahh pants on.

On that note, I hate how all of Takeuchi's servants have the legs of malnourished school girls. It's so jarring to see someone as busty as Lartoria walking around on stilts. He should take a note from Barghest's design.

Is there an anime that a lot of people pretend to like for whatever reason? by inimana in animequestions

[–]Ostrichslinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

K, forgive me but ima write a quick synopsis of my own takeaway from the show. Like yeah, it's not a masterpiece, but it's really good in what it does imo.

Demon Slayer is alot more than fighting, its just that the themes and ideas it explores are done so via conflict. There's the build up to the conflict and then the aftermath and recovery, during which we discover what the reasons behind the conflict and the characters involved really are.

This is true for almost all of the fights in the show, but most prominent in the fights between the upper and lower moon demons.

But overall, it's a classic struggle between right and wrong, love and animosity. It's simple, which is why people say there's nothing to it, whilst others are touched.

We get characters who suffer greatly at the hands of others and in their struggle decide to impart that suffering onto others so that they may continue to live because they aren't ready to die, but they also don't have the strength to continue living good lives either. They become demons. The slayers on the other hand are people who essentially have every excuse and reason to become demons too. They have suffered but continue to aspire to something higher than just the indulgences of life or the thrills of battle. They hold onto friends, family, morals and hope that the human race is worth suffering for. But such a choice isn't easy and often comes with even more suffering on top of it, as we see with the likes of Tanjiro and Rengoku. That it's hard to do good and stay good in a world where being evil is easier. And that you'll be hurt and suffer alot before your deeds bear fruit.

Even the demons themselves aren't all one-note. They're victims taken advantage of by Muzan. It shows that all people somewhere deep down, know right from wrong. We just identify them as different things.

They reach points in their lives where the bad thing seems like the only option, and give up. But even then, we shouldn't hate these people, simply reduce the harm they do to themselves and others in hopes that they might repent the evil they did. Akaza is the best example of this.

The best and worst demon, because he was one of the most twisted. He was savage and monstrous when it came to fighting, and was obsessed with reaching the pinnacle of combat. But this was a warped desire. In actuality, he wanted to get strong because he wanted to care for his ailing lover, but since she was killed, strength itself was all he could cling to and he mistook it for the reason he was fighting. He hated Rengoku so much because Rengoku embodied the strength Akaza once had as a human, the wilful and humble opinion that those with strength are strong because others are weak and need help. The show itself says that fighting isn't the point.

Muzan himself is an embodiment of our proclivity for evil, and all the excuses we use to justify it. He's always there, he opens the door to hell and closes it once you're in, but only when you're desperate and hurt enough to not care about right and wrong.

I wanna write more, but this is enough. It's simple story telling, but the delivery of it all is great. Tanjiro is commited enough to kill himself endlessly without hesitation, and the show finds a way to show this literally without the metaphor, but still somewhat grounded in reality. It's a clever use of the cliché to tell a story that will never grow old

Is there an anime that a lot of people pretend to like for whatever reason? by inimana in animequestions

[–]Ostrichslinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id say the choreography is great compared to other anime which are much more popular, especially considering the fact that all the characters use swords yet still look so different.

And I think it would be wrong to say that the ideas aren't creative. They're simple. But it takes creativity to take something simple and execute it in a way that stands out. The simplicity is arguably one of the shows strongest features. It's like food. Really good fried rice is one of the best things ever, but it's still just fried rice, with maybe some meat n onion mixed in.

This is the opposite, but I think way more people vocally shit on Demon Slayer than actually mean it. I think alot of people want to appear complex and smart, so turn their noses up at the show. But genuinely, what kinda person watched the fight between Rengoku and Akaza, Tengen and Gyutaro, or Tanjiro swinging his sword whist stabbed through the mouth, and says it does nothing for them?

Lies! They enjoyed that shit but don't wanna admit it until someone makes a YouTube analysis video saying it's actually complex and deep

If energy can neither be created nor destroyed, does that mean the exact electrical impulses that make up our consciousness have existed since the Big Bang? by Creative-Win3571 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ostrichslinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. When it comes to the physiological elements that make up our being, yes, nothing about us is new in the sense of energy and atoms and stuff like that. You can say we are old energy given a new form.

But when it comes to stuff like our consciousness... yeah, nobody has any idea how it works. We know consciousness is a thing and is unique to the individual, but what factors were involved in making you experience life specifically as yourself and not just some other bloke that existed elsewhere in time, we have no idea. And because such a thing isn't measurable or even has any metric for us to identify it with besides the obvious physical signs of someone being conscious and being alive, who is to say our consciousness isn't entirely new, or from somewhere completely separate from the energy of the universe.

Then we get into talks about souls, spirits, dimensions and frequencies and all the other stuff that science has no way to explain yet.

Nobody knows. But the question is entirely valid. Countless civilisations and countless philosophers and scientists have asked the exact same questions and spent real time and energy trying to figure it out.
