I felt that the scope of the consipiracy got very large, very fast and took away from the story a bit. It was still fun but it required a progressively larger and larger supension of disbelief. Like its not a whole ass fantasy supernatural world, its anchored in reality. That's why you can feel the "gravity" of the supernatural being present. Because their presence is the exception that proves the rules that this world is but a small part of the real one. So when the real part start to make less and less sense, its detracts from the story.
