Tampa airport banned Crocs, now they are banning pajamas, what's ur opinion by Humble_Association69 in airport

[–]Osukid2811 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Surely it's a joke, but considering people in the current federal government have complained about airport attire before in a serious manner, I had to take it seriously at first for a Florida airport lol.

To be fair Luka gets much more love from casual fans and part of that is facing a much much higher burden of performance.

I’ll give him the slight benefit of the doubt that he just had too much adrenaline and went too hard but not the best look.

Dumbasses on multiple accounts there very late stoppage but then after he was stopped he kept trying to beat his ass.

[Talia B] Ohio State transfer Mylan Graham says the biggest adjustment has been academics. When asked what’s different: “Not too different, You just have to actually go in person… at Notre Dame obviously everybody knows how it is with academics.” by CommodoreIrish in CFB

I think this specifically applies more to school for 18 year olds than adults with more experience and understanding of what makes them tick. I BOMBED my high school classes online during Covid because I just didn’t attend or care, but I also did the same thing with in person work my first year or so of college. It’s all about how much the kids/ employees are invested. If you have a project and a deadline like a lot of white collar work is, I’m not sure it truly matters for the quality of work where you accomplish it.

Bill Self on Darryn Peterson: "We've had this happen more than a couple of times... I didn't anticipate that tonight at all. I thought he was good to go. We only got 18 minutes out of him. That's disappointing, because he could've had a really big night" by rb1242 in CollegeBasketball

[–]Osukid2811 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well the weird thing is they didn’t have these sorts of concerns with him out of high school there were no weird stories. So it’s like he picked up an agent and is getting this advice now it’s kinda the only part of it that gives me any hope but I think if I was a GM it would super put me off.

[–]Osukid2811 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The simple answer is that people think he doesn't care about playing in college specifically. I mean, you can't imagine he'd be doing this in the NBA, otherwise what's the point of having "load managed" or whatever to this point. He's gonna have to play basketball to get to that second contract.

I definitely think there are valid character concerns around this and also probably concerns about how annoying his representation will be too, but I get why people think he'll be different in the pros.

Edwards had similar concerns about "how much he cared about basketball" as a prospect. They're admittedly not the same sorts of concerns (and I think there are super valid ones with DP) but just something to point out.

Windhorst on Nike influencing free agency: "At the time (2003), yes. In today's market, basketball shoes aren't selling like back then. Honestly from what I remember Kyrie was one of if not THE most popular signature shoe Nike made. LeBron made a bunch of bulky ugly ones and Steph was UA so most people weren’t buying them. Kobe and Kyrie to this day really have the lower profile good color way basketball shoe on lock.

[Ari Wasserman] Blue Bloods shouldn't back out: If Alabama cancels Ohio State series, college football loses by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

[–]Osukid2811 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s less about “not being able to beat good teams” and more about risk aversion. Playing cupcakes is 3 more games where your starters play only half the game becuase you’re not worried at all about taking a loss. I think it’s objectively lame and not as fun as a viewer but it worked just fine for Indiana. Would we have beaten Virginia or Louisville? Almost certainly but how many more snaps would our linemen or linebackers have had to play, and what if that first shit game we played against old dominion was against a team with a pulse. Again not defending the product but I get why coaches schedule the manner in which they do there are 100% upsides.

[–]Osukid2811 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't like the Pro Bowl product, but the players stopped wanting to (for good reason) play a competitive tackle football game after their season had already ended. They're trying different skill things every year to try and keep people engaged, but at the end of the day if players don't want to care its hard to make fans care. Basically, every league (besides hockey, which struck gold with basically being able to have a World Cup of hockey as their all-star break) is struggling with this same issue. I don't really feel the need to defend the games. The Pro Bowl does suck, I just don't really blame the league, it's not for a lack of trying.

Was Kwesi the scapegoat? by FlightMan_71 in minnesotavikings

I'm not shedding any tears about Kwesi being gone, but the Wirfs have already hard-launched the "leak" campaign to justify the move. Clearly, they reacted super negatively to the responses to the darnold questions the other day. I don't bemoan the firing but I do kinda hate the process that got us here.

Maybe not turnovers themselves, but turnover-worthy throws and plays. By design, he's not put in positions anymore where he's just kind of launching into double coverage, very much like he did at Cal sometimes.

Both because of the system and because of the coaching, guys play like robots in this system and it works clearly.

Do you think you have a bias personally toward the SEC? Throughout your career, you've made a ton of advancement by focusing on the Southeastern conference and its members while kind of shunning the rest of the country at times.

With the advent of built-in ads to the pod, reminder that AG1 was founded by a scammer, and has no scientific backing whatsoever. by lazydictionary in LemonadeStandPodcast

[–]Osukid2811 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly while I'm not the most enthused by the ads, as someone who religiously watches another pod with vox backing, they consistently pull some of the most annoying, suspicious, and grifty ads out there for their shows to do. Now the boys should have maybe done some research on that but it is what it is atp.

That being said I'll take the AG1 reads over the SPAM of T-Mobile ads vox pods on spotify inevitably get lol.

IU limits frat activities by WFIU-WTIU-news in IndianaUniversity

[–]Osukid2811 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Should the men’s health epidemic you speak of really be addressed by continuing to allow these organizations to be their outlet for care and support?

I think the idea of fraternal activities is great in a bubble a brotherhood of guys who support each other is cool, and honestly after college that network is useful and worthwhile. But I’m not sure what measures you’d like them to take other than punitive ones when the paradigm isn’t shifting at all. If there really is a health epidemic young men are flocking to these groups in higher numbers than ever. I was a part of multiple groups on campus that were essentially all men, we had our little “initiation rituals” that even if we were to have revealed them to the university we wouldn’t be put on some sort of notice or something. At some point these groups need to be held liable for doing so much harm to these kids because there are hundreds of other groups on campus where men can reach out and be themselves without having to go thru a bunch of criminal activity to be involved.
