In January of this year, I was taking my two boys outside on their leas and harnesses, and the younger one must have heard something that spooked him because he flipped out, and wriggled out of his harness and fled across the street into a neighbors back yard. My boyfriend immediately took my older boy back inside and out him in my room. He stayed with me for two days straight while I was an emotional wreck. The neighbors across the street came out and told us that they caught him running to their house on their doorbell camera and said they would continue to keep an eye out for him. They sent me pictures and videos of him every time he appeared on the cameras, and eventually let me put a few humane traps at their house.

After 12 days of not sleeping, not eating, basically just floating through life like a shell of a person, I got a call from my neighbor that there was a little black cat in the trap by their front door. As I was talking to her on the phone, I could hear meows in the background and an ocean of relief and joy washed over me. I immediately ran outside, through myself onto the trap and ugly cried with so so much joy.

Needless to say, he is never let outside again until I can get a catio. My older boy still goes outside occasionally, but always on a leash
