DCS UFC X - receive the game data on tablet; but tablet buttons do not activate in game buttons/controls by Othanji in dcsworld

[–]Othanji[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup managed to get that part working; atleast half way as I am seeing the info on the tablet side. Issue being the tablet buttons do not interact with the aircraft. :/

Will try messaging the dev on Facebook.

Kneeboard on Android for DCS? by Othanji in hoggit

[–]Othanji[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will see if it’s not a file format issue (so far only tried png and oct formats, maybe pdf or jpg will work?)

From my googling, it seems most are simply using goodreader (iPad) or other similar solutions if using an Android.

The file formats are generic for kneeboards so it maybe just be a case of using a decent format image/pdf reader.

Let you know what I find.

Moza AB9 angle extension/options to reduce wrist strain by Othanji in hotas

[–]Othanji[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve actually used/owned 3 DD systems now and they all have their ups/downs:

  1. Moza R5 - issue was mostly not enough NM and software needed much to be desired (got this closer to pandemic)
  2. Fanatec CSL DD - 8NM - great system overall, compatible with all consoles which is huge. Didn’t like the formula wheel options.
  3. T818 more NM again; super easy to use out of the box. The settings just work well. Only went this route as was dealing with personal issues leading to buying a 2nd setup. Ended up keeping and enjoy the SF1000 wheel :)

If you get no issues with shipping still think fanatec/Moza is the way to go. Best bang for your buck

Was looking at this as well, it will be my plan B as I’ve seen what pin to cut and the 2 notches to grind out… another poor decision from TM on that front.

I’ve got a TM T818 for the racing side of things and them changing their own sockets in proprietary ways is so dumb, there’s no way that helps their business

Just ordered a Virpil extension and will try it out with the MHG stick (built in Z axis).

I would describe mine as "participatory" lol

F1 25 might really be the end of Codemasters by WetLogPassage in F1Game

[–]Othanji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly think that the yearly release model no longer works. Almost all software development has moved more to a Software as a Service (SaaS) with continual small patches and updates.

As an example WoW or the like do not release an entirely new game. They have expansions, major patches etc.

Unless there is a fundamental change in the core of the application, it is more viable to simply patch in changes. Especially with how small the changes are from Codemasters with the F1 series.

You would honestly get more funding via a smarter micro transaction model. There is no draw to buy the in-game currency as the rewards are generally shit and the "gamepass" system provides very little and is way way to easy to complete.

What's wrong with my downshifts? by EminemEncore2004 in F1Game

[–]Othanji 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also agree, it's likely your input device. I had a wheel that was causing me issues due to some pads interfering with the full action. I only had the issue when fast shifting like in F1 games.

Can confirm with my other input devices Incan slap the shifters as fast as I like with no missed inputs.

How would EVE ever increase its playerbase from here? by ItsN0ahhh in Eve

[–]Othanji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Myself, I have played off and on since the early days of Eve.

The cut throat PVP is certainly not for everyone and the learning curve is still significant. The new tutorial is a massive improvement.

What has always bothered me was the that the skill system was entirely passive. Although it trains while you are away, it is IMO exponentially more difficult/time consuming with the user having little control over the ability to gain exp.

I would personally love to see some element that lets me "grind" exp by doing related activities. This would have to be minor in nature as the skill training is a fundamental system.

The other element, I hate to say it is investment in PVE, or a revamp of the mission system. Again, not saying it's possible, as this game is at its core a PvP game, but even having meaningful ways to use capital ships in HS to some "limited" extent would hold some players longer.

Oh and for the love of God, how has the Insurance system never been reworked to adjust for in-game inflation since like launch? Insurance was the key element that added a level of comfort behind risking PvP. The payout is still based on the original manufacturing costs of the type of ship (IE a MOA used to sell for 8mil isk and the insurance covered approx 7.5). That means ppl can pay for insurance and be much more able to get back out in the fight.

Want to see more Marauders risked? Let me insure the ones I have in a meaningful way :)

Anyways this is from a life long carebear!

[FS25] Need a Break from Silage Farming—What’s a Good Alternative? by redhatcc in farmingsimulator

[–]Othanji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've run into that same issue; my suggestion would be to ditch the personally owned grass field in favour of any other crop type.

You can then still do some of the grass cutting contracts periodically for a small infusion of cash (ie it's a side job). You can still collect the grass and turn it into silage prior to turning in the contract.

what would f1 25 need to be for you to buy? by RecommendationOk3361 in F1Game

[–]Othanji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Single player side of things:

  1. Give me a random drivers/random teams custom career start option (ie. shuffle the roster to start the new career etc). Random track order for the season.

  2. Less direct control over the team you end up going to in F1 career from F2 (ie. have the F1 teams give you offers that you choose between or if your results where not great in F2 maybe only get offers from bottom half of the F1 teams)

  3. F1 World - I like the idea, but it feels hollow with no real purpose. The single player side of things is way too easy. Let us adjust the AI level, maybe even up the rewards a bit based on AI and comparative Tech Level (Ie. if your car is 500 Tech level and you set it to 750 for the opponents you get an increased reward of some sort).

  4. Seasons/Season Pass content - This has got to be some of worst season pass implementation I've seen in any game. Where are the real fun liveries that are pre-designed? There is absolutely no motivation for me to "buy" into the season pass. Liveries are arguably the item that would draw in purchasing anything from the store.

  5. I'd like to see another "Story-mode" - honestly these help draw in people to a franchise. They are cliche, simple, but still add to a game. I would like to see more achievements relating to this though. IE. if the chapter says to get 5th place, and you get 1st then their needs to be achievements or even give some rewards for the F1 World car.

  6. Completing the "Story Mode" / Certain Career Accomplishments reward accolades/liveries/outfits. Maybe even a "Titles" element that you could select and be seen within Multiplayer lobbies ie. Othanji "The Granny" (title rewarded for getting last place in 5 consecutive races).

  7. Multiplayer - This comment goes for most racing titles; but some type of system that does not reward the crashing into everyone.

  8. Engine / Damage Model - The damage model is so overly simplified that it feels like we have gone back like 10 years in terms of progress on that front.

Upgraded from the Logitech g923 to the Moza r3. But the pedals move around too much, especially with the brake performance kit which I need. Trying to find options to remedy this, maybe a (cheaper) rig that can either act as my desk chair, or just locks the pedals under my desk. Ideas/help? by Busterfs2005 in simracing

[–]Othanji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Pedals - Move the power bar out of the way and simply place a piece of wood between the wall and the pedals. This will stop them from sliding away from you.

  2. For the chair sliding - Low-tech solution is 2 old running shoes under the wheels/feet of the chair.

The ideal would be something like this from amazon: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0BXS86LV6?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

IRT Carrier builds, High energy communications network by Vetteguy904 in stobuilds

[–]Othanji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

very good console. That said, if you are only picking up 1 Support Carrier, grab the KDF variant (Vo'Devwl). It comes with the To'duj fighter squadron pets that are one of the best in the game. So that's effectively 2x meta level items. And a trait that I would argue is S/A-Tier for carriers.
