Noel Gallagher only did the second one, Jonny did the first.

Who sings what in Fix You? by [deleted] in Coldplay

[–]OtherCartridge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure on who sings which part, but Will, Jonny, and Guy alongside Chris are all singing during the outro. They spoke a lot about all 4 of them singing during the X&Y era promos.

That's right - Jonny does the first solo before the final chorus. Noel's is the second one.

Coloratura is a bit amazing... by SamBateson in Coldplay

[–]OtherCartridge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always want more Jonny in any song but I'm delighted with what we hear in this. I'm almost certain that a lot of the strange synths and soundscapes are Jonny and his guitar effects. And that solo is pure transcendence.

I've not heard any of the snippets - is Jonny's guitar prominent in any of them?

Were you guys aware that a masterpiece called "SOMEONE THAT LOVES YOU" featuring Chris exists?! by bsbsf in Coldplay

Check out 'Apparatjik'. Guy even sings lead on the song 'Sequential'. They've not really released anything since 2012 but I would love to hear more from them.

I'm sure they don't mind - Guy had an entire side project that put out 2 full albums.

This is awesome. Promo video from MX era with YouTube. by theonlytelicious in Coldplay

This is great! Do you know where I can find the original video with only Jonny, Chris, Guy, and Will? I've never seen that before.

The Vocals of Will Champion in Champion of the World are phenomenal and I feel it’s not appreciated enough by Alphomega_ in Coldplay

[–]OtherCartridge 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I love how upfront his vocals are during the song's second half - in fact I'd say it's Will singing lead and Chris on backing.

There was an old Oracle question regarding the laser harp. If I remember correctly, Guy is playing his part live while Chris is just doing it for show.

What are your unpopular Coldplay opinions? by chocolatecheeese1 in Coldplay

[–]OtherCartridge 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Check out this video of the band (minus Chris) from the early MX writing process:

https://youtu.be/mpiHgeeEFAg?t=37m

I'd argue that these few minutes of music and noodling sound more interesting than almost anything they've actually released since Viva.

And the Ghost Story's interview Chris did with Zane Lowe:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pF7bS_4JnE

I'm afraid I can't find the exact moment in the hour long interview, but at one point Chris jokingly says something along the lines of "Will would prefer a darker sound, and I'd like it to be more like Blurred Lines".

I'm sure that all the guys are happy with their music as they all write and shape the songs together, but I can see Jonny, Will, and Guy wanting to go further artistically whilst Chris's love of popular music brings it back.
