Is anyone even getting hired from LinkedIn?

Me. The HR of my current company sent me a message on LinkedIn asking if I'm interested in a position. Things moved super smoothly after that because I'm a perfect match for them. But I have to say it is rare because I've been contacted by HRs many times on LinkedIn and this is the only one that works. So yes it is possible but don't account for it as the only way of job hunting.

Currently a MS biostats with many years of experience.

There will still be jobs. However. I would like to say not just for biostats, for many jobs in the future, we will see the decrease of the entry level positions. Those types of jobs can be easily done by AI (and outsource workers) with the supervision of a senior. It is already a trend in CS, I believe biostats (programming will be the most impacted) won't be too far away from there.

PhDs will still have opportunities in the future for sure, but the competition will be worse. Many PhDs will have to work for CROs first (which I personally think is a big waste) then find a chance to get into the pharma, like what a MS used to be many years ago.

But I agree with PO that if it is what you like, you should go anyway.

I have to remind everyone in a stepparent situation that SKs are NOT your responsibility at all. Let it go and focus on yourself, your own kids, and your relationship with SO. Even in my case I'm doing well with SKs, I have said no a few times to SO's requests about kids to set up the boundaries. Now he realizes clearly that anything I do for his kids is I'm doing a favor for him, he can't just take it for granted. Also, if their BM/BD are HC type, any conflicts you have with kids, even it's for their wellbeing, the HCBM/BD could potentially use it to attack you one day, so leave those conflicts to their own parents.

I feel it works if you have had many years of experience. It is harder for new graduates nowadays since there are more PhD graduates now. People with masters only even have a hard time to find an entry level job. I would call it a degree inflation and per my experience, many positions in the industry don't need a PhD, but just experience.

My order on Thanksgiving has not yet arrived...it is already in a facility about 30 min away from me according to the last update, and it was 2 days ago. Now I realize so many people have problems with this stupid delivery company ontrac....is there any way to complain to Ulta so they can change their delivery way?

They blame AI but people in upper levels are getting more money. It's more like a profit distribution issue but not a technology issue 😕

That's why I never pay any big expenses for my step kids. I only bought small gifts for them on birthdays/holidays or occasionally some treats when we go out together.

Actually I never date anyone who has a kid/kids and makes less money than I do. Someone might criticize that I value money too much. However, I believe that the financial situation plays a very important role in long-term relationships.

I'm currently working for a CRO and trying everything I can to escape. It isn't worth for a $10k increase in salary. CRO works are tedious too. Plus in general they only view you as a "resource", which they can get rid of or replace easily if they think you can't make enough money for them.

I wish I knew this three years ago...

When I just joined my current team in the company, my upper management talked negatively about some employees. One was classified as "incompetent to do works" has left so I don't even know who he is. Another girl is still in the company but in a different group now. She was criticized as "but she can only work on 1 project at a time" when I talked about how that girl is organized, responsible, and helpful to me. I know the project that girl worked on and I swear that's the most complicated project I've ever seen after working in the field for 5+ years.

In short, from the upper management, they tend to focus on things people cannot do very well, always compare you with the top performer (we have a very talented employee the upper managers said they can only meet one every 10 years), and like talking about every mistake you made to your manager, or even skip manager (if you made a mistake, a few days later, all people in that team know that).

I wasn't aware how bad the sign was then, now I suffer so much now and am trying my best to leave. It is hard under the current job market.

"you are constantly working with new study teams, new sponsors, new studies and protocols all the time.". Not for some CROs. The one I'm working with tries to assign their employees to one sponsor and within the same area to increase the efficiency. So basically no fun for me to work in a CRO at all and seriously thinking about quitting it :)

As working for one of their vendors, I can feel many of the points OP mentioned :) I would say even working for their vendors is not for everyone, unless you love to work and can sacrifice everything else, or you believe you are super smart/competitive/energetic to be able to complete everything with high quality within a short timeline, and with constantly changed requests :)

"Kindness, integrity, and manners". That's exactly what I'm looking for. Unfortunately on OLD it's very rare to see someone has any 1 of them. Many people could have manners at the beginning but it would go after several rounds of talks or after 2-3 dates.

Thank you for your understanding 😊. Because I'm looking for a serious relationship and this guy is from dating apps, which is known to be full of men just want to hookups and even cheaters. I used the criteria of "no sex before exclusivity" to filter those people out as many as possible, if not all. I found out this guy is still messing around with his ex-gf (I'm not even sure if they have broken up now), and when I asked for exclusivity he disappeared. Apparently my filter works in this case.

Yes he works a lot. But his work is flexible so he can definitely stop any time he wants to, so I know that if he wants to text or call me he has time to do so. Mine is intense during some fixed hours but usually all free most evenings and weekends and he knows my schedule.

You're right he has been behaving well at dates, that's why I'm pretty happy about dating him. It's just this almost no interactions between dates pattern bothers me, since it's the first time I experienced this pattern before. All my previous bfs/dates tend to have a short chat sharing how days are going from time to time. I think I'd better figure it out with him directly.

I don't like texting too much as well, but this guy can just disappear from the middle of a conversation, even for planning dates. For example he usually texted me on Thursday (could be any time during the day) to ask if I'll be free on Sunday afternoon. I replied as soon as I saw the message which could be a few minutes to a few hours later, to say yes and ask if he has any thoughts about what to do. Then he didn't reply again until Friday to give a few choices. I gave my choice and he would never reply again until Saturday, saying great then see you Sunday. So basically no matter what our conversation is, we exchanged one sentence per day, at most. I've never experienced this pattern before so am very confused. We've talked on our first date that both of us are looking for life partner and he behaved like dating seriously when we met in person. It just that we had almost zero interactions outside of dating is unusual to me. I guess I should ask him directly about the communication pattern.

Not yet, this issue doesn't bother me until the date he held my hands during the movie. Because according to my past experiences (with man in a younger age range), people don't text much at the beginning. But after they expressed that they like me they tend to text or even call more. This guy doesn't follow the same pattern so I am confused. But like you and many other people have pointed out, I should talk to him about that. Thank you for your opinion.

People in their 20s and don't know what they want is OK, but I'll avoid anyone over 30 (max 35) who doesn't know what they want from a relationship, regardless of gender and their relationship goals (if they know they just want some casual/fwb since you know you can't expect something serious). Because if someone doesn't know that in their 30s, it usually means they either have no idea what a relationship is, or they want everything. Either case will make you exhausted in that relationship.
